My kids loved this series, this being number 8,. It was fun to revisit the old gang in this one. #ISpyBingoJuly @TheAromaofBooks
The beauty of Port Anna lies not in its twists, but in its texture. In the way love here is not a rescue, but a recognition. In how healing arrives softly—not as a climax, but as a tide. And in how the past doesn‘t haunt, but holds, gently urging the characters—and maybe the reader, too—toward release. I wish I could say more.

Set in 1926 Australia, Tom and Isabel live on a remote island where he is the lighthouse keeper. Isabel has suffered multiple miscarriages when a boat arrives carrying a dead man and a living baby girl. When Tom goes to report the incident Isabel convinces him to say nothing so that they can raise the child as their own. I was so irritated with them both as I read this but couldn‘t deny that I was emotionally invested in seeing what was to come.

The loveliest story of a young boy rescued from a shipwreck by a lighthouse keeper. Over the following years, he goes to boarding school and moves to other parts of England, but the pull of the lighthouse island always calls him back. When he is able to return, he finds the island just how he remembered it. It‘s geared to 9-12 year olds and is written 1st person, but it‘s a sweet read for adults as well. The illustrations were my favorite part.
