This book is so packed with historical information and is great for the kids in your class with special interests to really dive into. This book is a non fiction picture book and I would use this book for independent reading to really foster interest and reading for fun on your own!

Hannacallaham For ESOL I would use 1. Teach questioning for clarification and 2. Promise self-talk (positive thinking). For UDL I would use 7.1 and 8.1 5y

This is one of my all time favorite books. It offers so many interesting perspectives in this book and is so uniquely laid out while not taking away from the plot or message it‘s conveying! So great for learning about acceptance and understanding. This book is a realistic fiction nov and has many awards including: mark Twain award, Maine student book award, and junior young readers choice award. I would use this as a literate circle book

Hannacallaham for ESOL I would use 2. Promote cooperation and 1. Teach questioning for clarification. For UDL I would use 8.3 and 8.4 5y

I would use this as an independent read because poetry is great to go at your own pace and really dive into on your own!

I really liked this book because it‘s actually non-fiction but the story is so heart felt and interesting that students would really enjoy it and it‘s easy to draw connections with! This book is a non-fiction/ autobiography novel and is a Will Eisner and New York Times best seller. I would use this book for a Literature circle as well but more as a beginners literature circle to get the hang of it because it is a bit shorter than most novels.

Hannacallaham For ESOL I would use 2. Promise cooperation and 10. Teach think, pair, share strategies in cooperative groups. For UDL I would use 8.3 and 7.1 5y

I love all of the pigeon books but this is one of my favorites and I think the students would make great connections and enjoy it a lot! This book is a fantasy fiction picture book. It was an audie award for young listeners and I would use patterned reading with this because the text is simple and they could help out each other and really draw connections and read independently with support!
