4.8⭐️ I always knew he was an amazing poet and artist. I guess it just didn‘t realize how much he valued poetry and storytelling. It‘s beautiful to see what he‘s done, slightly disturbing, but absolutely beautiful. #roll100 number 83
I wouldn't say his poetry was brilliant or anything, but it's intriguing.
The poems in this book are from 1966-1971, and they were unpublished until the release of this book. It's not the best of his work, hence why it was left unpublished by him.
Wilderness lets you see a little more into the mind of one of the greatest songwriters.
Only for die-hard fans.

“The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it” - Oscar Wilde
“There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors.”-Jim Morrison
Well, it was my #birthday so I thought I‘d treat myself to a heavy book full of Jim Morrison‘s journals, lyrics and poetic ramblings. Jim was a bit of an obsession of mine when I was a teenager, my mum surprised me with an 18th bday cake with a similar pic to this one on it! I often made the trip to Paris to Père Lachaise Cemetery to go ‘hang out‘ esp around my birthday as it‘s the same week as Morrison‘s death; many make the ‘pilgrimage‘ there ?
Day 8
For fans of radical & darker poetry. Must have if you are a Doors fan like myself. Will reread again before the end of the year.
“Untrampled footsteps
Borderline dreams
Occasion for sinners
alive if it seems
given to wander
alone at the shore
wanton to whisper
I am no more
Am as my heart beats
live as I can
wanton to whisper
faraway sands...”

The best known lines from “The Celebration of the Lizard” may be “I am the Lizard King/I can do anything” but my favourite lines are these:
“And I can tell you the names of the kingdom
I can tell you the things that you know
Listening for a fistful of silence
Climbing valleys into the shade”

Absolutely fascinating read. The author touches on every subject I wanted to know about and more. Answers many questions and is very hard to put down.
