The Call (The Call #1) | Peadar Guilin
post image
Pickpick

Unexpectedly one of the best books I have EVER READ! This gripping dystopian novel based in Ireland is of a world where all teens must train in order to survive ‘the Call‘. In Irish time each person is gone for three minutes but in the ‘Grey Land‘ a place which I habits joyfully and sickeningly cruel creatures called the Sídhe it is a whole day. The odds are that one in ten survive. The protagonist has polio so will she survive the Call. #gripping

#BookReport

I sort of unintentionally had a Litsy break so here is my #BookReport for the last two weeks. I was on vacation (at home) last week so I got quite a bit of reading done.

I‘m halfway through Into Thin Air and I finished the Penny book today.

brittanyreads How was Serafina and the Black Cloak? It's in my ThriftBooks cart to purchase. 5y
Josee.lit.a.lu.et.lira I really enjoyed Into Thin Air decades ago. Memorable story ⛰ 5y
Bookzombie @BrittanyReads I enjoyed it, but not quite as much as I thought I would. I don‘t think I will continue with the series. 5y

Bookzombie @Cinfhen The week off of work really helped! Thanks! 😊 5y
Smrloomis Parts of Dear Girls were too gross for me, but overall I thought it was hysterical. Did you like it? 5y
Bookzombie @Smrloomis I did! She did share some gross details, but it was hilarious, especially on audio. I watched her first Netflix special right after and it was funny too. I also love her on American Housewife and wish she was on it more. 5y

Pickpick

Just finished reading this book and the last 100 pages had me totally gripped. So many twists and turns. It had me guessing until the very end. Just when I thought I had figured it out there was another unexpected revalation.

I am always wary of comparisons of any new book with Donna Tartt's magnificent 'The Secret History', but in this case they seem justified so far. This has been completely gripping - I was hooked within the first couple of pages. #ifwewerevillains #thesecrethistory #donnatartt #mlrio #greatreads #currentlyreading #hooked #gripping

Enjoying this very much. Main character is extremely relatable although we are nowhere near similar in age, nor would I do the things this character has done, however, I still feel a strong connection.
