3 stars so a pick. I really liked how the main case wrapped up. Was grinning to myself on the bus for that part! So I‘ll hang on to this one.
The main plot, involving smuggling and potential robberies on the river, was great. The subplot involving the teenager abducted for sexual reasons was terrible, especially because characters (male AND female) expressed the view of some girls being attractive in a way that men “can‘t help” responding to. 🤮 I plan to recycle this book rather than give it away.
I was reading Dying for Revenge with the Reading Girlfriends Instagram book club, and I thought that I would never finish it; I did. I read this book over my entire fall break, and I wanted to finish it before the break was over. When I went to bed last night, I only had 181 pages left to read. Well, I woke up at 4:00 this morning with this book on my mind. I picked it up and started reading it. I was determined to finish it, and I did.
A solid entry in the Gideon series. One of the early ones and written by the original author, so it still feels fresh.
Typo of the day: « boing » for « going » (« what do you think we‘re boing to do? ») And later on down the page a too/to mix-up ? I am going to presume these errors crept into the reprint and were not in the original text.
3/5. The main plot was interesting, and the story overall was solidly constructed, as I would expect from this series, but I wasn't thrilled with the subplot involving child abduction 😐
Getting one step closer to Gideon while listening to this. #gideon #scifiseptember #tomeinfinityandbeyond
