The Curse of the Ruby Necklace | Francine Pascal, Jamie Suzanne
post image
Pickpick

Another favorite featuring yet another abandoned #SweetValley mansion! In this 2nd spring break, Jessica finds a barnacle-encrusted necklace that soon captures all of her attention & seems to cause recurring nightmares. When Liz finds it, she falls victim to it next—with cousin Robin following suit as they all work as extras in the movie filmed in the mansion. Working together, they learn the real story of the Keller mansion & the cursed necklace!

JenlovesJT47 My second favorite! I think I read this one almost as many times as The Evil Twin. 🤓 1mo
JenlovesJT47 Is your book a smaller version than the normal size like mine is? I don‘t remember why they did that. It always annoyed me the book wasn‘t the same size as the rest of them. 1mo
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 This is a great one— & one I frequently re-read, too!! Mine is actually a normal size… the background book with the picture of a (not cursed) ruby pendant is actually huge— it‘s a coffee table book from the Field Museum about their gem collection, so it‘s a bit misleading. My copy is a bit tattered though! I think the only small ones I have were from the UK originally! 1mo
JenlovesJT47 Hmm I dunno why mine is small, I don‘t have it around to look at but it might have been one that was 99 cents or something like that so it was smaller. It‘s about the same size as a Senior Year book. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 1mo
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 That is weird! 1mo

Jessica and the Jumbo Fish | Francine Pascal, Molly MIA Stewart

Pickpick

The Wakefield family takes a family vacation at the lake. Jess is horrified at the idea of fishing and hangs out with Jilly, a girl their age staying in the cabin next door. After 2 days of hanging out with this insufferable girl, fishing sounds more & more appealing. She finally goes out on the boat on the last day of vacation & catches the biggest fish, bigger than anyone else has caught all weekend. So cute! 4⭐️

The Unicorns Go Hawaiian | Francine Pascal, Jamie Suzanne

It‘s another #SweetValleyChristmas & though the Wakefields have plans for a skiing trip with both sets of grandparents, Jessica & Mandy Miller enter a recipe contest for the Pineapple People & win a trip to Hawaii! Liz would rather ski, & Jessica insults Lila by inviting Mary Wallace instead since Lila‘s already been. Mr. Fowler comes to the rescue & joins them & pays for Lila, Ellen & Janet—along with his new girlfriend, Bambi. Lila hates her!

JenlovesJT47 I was gonna say, is this the one with the girlfriend named Bambi? Yep! Haven‘t read this one in awhile but it‘s a fun one! 2mo

Slam book fever | Francine Pascal, Kate William

It‘s time for the alternate cover of the day! 😆

In all seriousness, please send prayers and/or good vibes this way. I live in central Florida and am freaking out about this monster hurricane headed this way. We‘re hunkering down at home and I‘ve got 3 kindles filled with books to keep me distracted. Any of my Litsy friends who are in the line of this storm, I‘m thinking of you and praying.

Happy reading!

Jessica's Big Mistake | Francine Pascal, Molly MIA Stewart
post image
Pickpick

A famous children‘s author, Angela Daley, is coming to visit Mrs. Becker‘s 2nd grade class, and the kids have been tasked with doing some kind of project for her to earn the spot of helping her autograph books for the students. Liz decides to write a story. Jessica finds the 1st draft of her story in trash, not knowing what Liz is using it for, and decides to pass it off as her own. She realizes her mistake on the big day and comes clean to ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Mrs. Becker & Elizabeth. Elizabeth earns the privilege of having Ms. Daley read her story to the entire class, as well as helping her with the books. Jess is happy that Liz forgives her and all is well in Sweet Valley. 4⭐️ #SweetValley #SweetValleyKids #SVK #twins #nostalgia 👯‍♀️ 3mo

Runaway Hamster | Francine Pascal, Molly MIA Stewart

Book 2 in the Sweet Valley Kids series has Jess and Liz taking the class hamster Tinkerbell home with them over winter break. Jess thinks he looks like a rat and doesn‘t want anything to do with him. Saint Liz is the model pet owner, naturally. Chaos ensues when Jess accidentally leaves the cage open and they buy a new one to try to pass it off as Tinkerbell. All is well when they find Tink a few weeks later, so now the class has 2 hamsters. 🐹

I recently found a treasure trove of free books online (will add link in comments) and I have spent the last few days downloading every Sweet Valley book they had. I decided to read through the SV Kids series along with my SVT read-through and SV Senior Year. Yes, I am a nerd but I‘ve never read this series and I love the feeling of nostalgia I get when I read any Sweet Valley book. 🤓 I fully credit Sweet Valley books for my love of reading. ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Thank you, Francine Pascal! Anyhoo, book one of SV Kids finds Jess and Liz in 2nd grade preparing for their 7th birthday party. Lots of familiar faces here with their later personalities on display even here in elementary school. I‘m looking forward to this read-through. 4⭐️ #SweetValley #SweetValleyKids #SVK #twins #nostalgia 👯‍♀️ 4mo

Ned‘s birthday celebration continues with a trip to Sun Lake for fishing and fun. But Jessica thinks it‘s extra-yucky (and scary after a nightmare), but the bratty girl in the cabin next door is even worse, so she faces her fear and turns out to be the best fisher in the Wakefield family! A fun first family vacation for the series!

JenlovesJT47 I enjoy this kids series more than I thought I would. It‘s nice to see them doing normal things like family vacations and stuff. The parents are more hands off in the SVH books. 2mo
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 Yeah, Ned and Alice are actually pretty good parents, I think! The kids series is pretty fun, really! And it‘s nice what quick reads they are because it‘s easy to fly through them! 2mo
JenlovesJT47 Yes I‘m trying not to speed through them too fast since it only takes about 20 minutes to read one! I have to make a list of the ones they don‘t have on Anna‘s Archive. Luckily they have all but 3 of the SVT books. 2mo

TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 Yes! I have to balance NetGalley ARCs, book club books and other reading like that with this big re-reading project! And that website is great!! Such a good find— thank you!! 2mo
JenlovesJT47 Yes I‘m low on funds at the moment and that website has really saved me lol. I‘m so bummed I don‘t have access to my collection right now but this is the next best thing! And for our HitchToScreen buddy read I checked and they have all of those older, harder to find books on there, so that‘s awesome! 2mo
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 That‘s great!! I didn‘t have any luck in the few bookstores we went to over our little trip! 2mo

Jessica's Big Mistake | Francine Pascal, Molly MIA Stewart

Ah, the first of many Jessica Wakefield mistakes! When Elizabeth‘s favorite author comes to visit the 2nd grade class, all the students want the honor of being her special assistant. When Jessica finds what she thinks is a cast off story of Elizabeth‘s, she copies it over as her own! Of course, she realizes her mistake, and it‘s the first public recognition Elizabeth receives for her writing! Another fun installment!

My Sweet Valley reading project continues with this cute one where for an unspecified school break, the second-grade twins get to take home Tinkerbell, the class hamster. Elizabeth is delighted but squeamish Jessica wants nothing to do with the rodent! Cute & fun, a class hamster sounds better than my 2nd grade class that shared a teddy bear named Cuddles—are classes even allowed to share anything like this anymore? Or does this date the series?
