I never read any of these Sweet Valley Kids books back in the day so I‘m really enjoying this read through. Jess & Liz have a slumber party while their parents are out of town & their great Aunt Helen is in charge. GA Helen is actually pretty cool & everyone has a fabulous time. Makes me miss being a kid. 4⭐️

To everyone‘s surprise, Jessica wins the 2nd grade spelling bee at school & gets to compete in the district spelling bee. She feels she is not smart enough & apparently everyone agrees because the whole class tries to convince her to do a twin switch on the big day & let Liz go in her place. But she surprises everyone & herself most of all when she does it all on her own. 4⭐️

Jess & Liz go for a 3-day joint stay at the hospital to have their tonsils out. Such a contrast to the way things are done today! Their stay is made more exciting by 2 contraband turtles that another kid has sneaked into the ward. The kids amuse themselves with turtle races. 4⭐️🐢🐢👯‍♀️

The Wakefield family takes a family vacation at the lake. Jess is horrified at the idea of fishing and hangs out with Jilly, a girl their age staying in the cabin next door. After 2 days of hanging out with this insufferable girl, fishing sounds more & more appealing. She finally goes out on the boat on the last day of vacation & catches the biggest fish, bigger than anyone else has caught all weekend. So cute! 4⭐️

Steven & the twins make a bet that if he wins 1st place in the science fair, the twins will have to do all his chores for a week, & if he loses he does their chores. As you can see by the title, Steven wins & starts bossing them around & showing off in front of their friends. They make another bet to see who can make the best birthday cake for their dad, & Steven finally gets put in his place with his microwaved monstrosity. 😆 4⭐️

Caroline keeps bragging about her collection of porcelain dolls, which prompts Mrs. Otis to plan a special show and tell for collections. On the big day, Caroline‘s doll goes missing. She later confesses to Liz that she only has 1 doll. The doll is later found and Caroline confesses to the class. It was fun to see the things the other kids collected. Jess, of course, has a “Jessica” collection, tons of things with her name on it. Very fitting! 😆

Liz wakes up sick so Jess decides to pretend to be Liz at school. Todd shares a secret with “Liz” that a TV movie is being filmed at his house & she & Todd get to be in it. Jess neglects to mention anything about the twin switch to either Todd or Liz, then spills the beans to Lila & Ellen. When filming day arrives the whole class is there & Jess‘s secret is out. Naturally, everything works out & all 3 of them get to be in the movie. 4⭐️

Elizabeth is determined to try out for the soccer team along with her friend, Eva, even though the boys tease them mercilessly. Jess is more interested in dance class but is there to cheer Liz on at the tryouts. The 2 girls show them they are just as good, if not better than some of the boys and Liz overcomes her fear of being hit by the ball while playing goalie. And Todd gets put in his place (I confess I get a certain amount of pleasure any ⬇️

This was so cute & wholesome. The twins‘ next door neighbor has a new baby & they are smitten, especially Jessica. Jess soon begins to fantasize about having a baby sister & convinces herself and Liz that their mom might already be pregnant. After spending a morning helping the neighbor with baby Jenny, they realize having a baby in the house is not all it‘s cracked up to be. Liz finally works up the courage to ask their mom if she is pregnant. ⬇️
