Smarkies I wish there was more of a wrap up in terms of the family situation but I understand why the author left it as such. I was generally happy with the general wrap up and the general ending of the book. 4y

janeycanuck @Smarkies I like that he left it open to write more if he wanted. And I liked that all the de Luce sisters had new things in their lives, it showed that life would go on for them after their father‘s passing. 4y

Smarkies The rest of the village seems to be puttering on as usual... I think as with all small villages, changes will happen over time but slowly. 4y

janeycanuck @Smarkies there were definitely big changes at Buckshaw throughout the course of the series. But you‘re right about the rest of the village. Aside from all the dead and/or arrested inhabitants 🤪 4y

janeycanuck @Smarkies haha! So I think the missionaries killed Mrs Prill. Beyond that... I think maybe Miss Truelove got roped in against her will but then went along with things. I‘ve got nothing on the missionaries, though. 4y

Smarkies I really liked the partnership. Dogger really does let Flavia go off and do her own thing so it was a good balance of working together and working separately. Plus there was someone sympathetic to help her along. 4y

The de Luce sisters are on holiday following the events of the last book and of course, Flavia finds a body. I really like seeing how the sisters‘ relationships evolve and they seem to be closer in this book. I‘m sad that my time with Flavia is ending again soon, she‘s such a wonderful character.

Fall is here! I‘ve got a massive #OctoberTBR but I‘m on vacation after tomorrow so I have high hopes! Many of these are #pemberlittens reads but I‘ve got a couple of exciting library holds that have come in, my #flaviabuddyread, two for #heycarrots, the next #agathachristieclubr2, my #girlybookclub book, a couple of #15books15weeks stragglers and lots of leftovers from previous months. Bring on the cool weather, it‘s perfect for reading!

Smarkies I hope that it sets Flavia on the path that is "promised" for her i.e. the one that is alluded to with her mother. I also hope that her family relations improve with her sisters and they can work together better moving forward. 4y

Smarkies There seems to be some subterfuge in terms of this mystery. As it has to do with another "society" perhaps the general not tying up of loose ends works. 4y

janeycanuck @Smarkies I agree. Life is rarely cut and dry so loose ends makes sense. I think the ambiguity makes the characters more human, too. 4y
