Dust of Dreams: Book Nine of The Malazan Book of the Fallen | Steven Erikson

I‘ve done so much manual labour this weekend that I‘m 36% into DUST OF DREAMS, a 44-hour audiobook, after only two days. Even at 3x, that‘s a LOT.

Also, all my muscles are sore. Like, really, ALL of them.

When I wasn‘t manually labouring, I also managed to finish this book nook I lucked into at the local Amazon returns store. It was only $10, instead of $50-70! Good times. #audiocrafting

I‘m still really liking this one. Except… the Dalinar visions are getting old. I could edit those out and be pretty happy still. But I won‘t. I‘m sure they are worth it later. Thankfully I love all the time we spend with bridge four, so it‘s helping me to get through the less interesting parts. #CosmereBuddyRead

Meshell1313 Yes I agree- but I know part 2 is just the build up to what is coming. I really liked the Moash storyline!!!! He is working with the enemy! What did he learn? I have so many questions. 1w

This is a bit of a hard one for me.

It was a pick for me because I still enjoyed the ride, the characters, the lush world, and the new revelations... but at the same time, I do understand why a lot of Stormlight fans struggled with this one. It felt a little heavy handed at times and the ending didn't have the payoff a lot of readers hoped for.

But personally, I still enjoyed every moment.

rabbitprincess Whew finally finished Part 1! The scene with the Midnight Mother was absolutely chilling, very well done! And I happened to be reading this on the bus when I hit the illustration of the creepy spren lurking in the darkness 😂 YEARGH!! 1w

rabbitprincess I‘ve been finding this one a bit slower than Words of Radiance, but not sure how much of that is the book and how much of that is my thesis work kicking into high gear and leaving my brain mushy 😅 1w

Leniverse I've started a new job with a steep learning curve, and I've been too tired to even contemplate starting a 1200 page book, even though I've been really eager to continue the story. Today I finally decided to get started. I read until the end of ch. 17 in one go 😅 Not a pace I can maintain during the week, but I feel confident I'll be able to catch up. Love it so far! 1w

Toll the Hounds: Book Eight of The Malazan Book of the Fallen | Steven Erikson

I‘ve been reluctant to try #audiocycling in case my earbuds pop out due to bumpy roads and/or extreme sweat, but I had a 70-minute ride home tonight and I really want to finish TOLL THE HOUNDS, so I gave it a go. My earbuds stayed in and I‘m now at 83% with the book. The end is in sight!

Kenyazero Nice! Are your earbuds wireless? I have a leash that wraps around mine and just rests around my neck in case they pop out. It‘s not intrusive and just connects them together. 2w

xicanti @monalyisha I kept expecting that deep blue sky to rain on me, but it held off! 2w

xicanti @Kenyazero yep, they‘re wireless, but they have such a sleek, basic design that I don‘t think I could hook anything around them to hold them in place. When I exercise indoors I wear a headscarf that covers them and keeps them from popping out, but that gets really, really hot outdoors, with my helmet overtop it. 2w
