After 7 months of working from home, 7 months without live performances, my company is producing opera again! Tonight we open a "drive-thru" opera, an immersive performance/installation adaptation of Wagner's Götterdämmerung, where, in true Detroit fashion, Brunhilde rides off in a Ford Mustang. I am so proud of my incredible colleagues and so overjoyed to be part of bringing the arts to life once again. #SeeMoreOpera #SeeMoreTheatre #MittenLitten

sharread That's awesome I live in Michigan, and have to check that out. 👍 4y

BarbaraBB Wow that sounds really good! 4y
quietjenn I hope all goes well! 4y
Lcsmcat Cool! What do you do with the Detroit Opera? 4y
Andrea313 @Lcsmcat I'm the Director of Education. 🙂 4y
Lcsmcat @Andrea313 Cool. My husband and I are both classical musicians and so many of our friends are out of work now. It‘s good to hear of a company figuring out alternatives. 4y
Andrea313 @quietjenn @TrishB @LiteraryinLititz @BarbaraBB @sharread Thanks for the kind words. It was a wonderful opening! ❤️🎵🎶 4y
Andrea313 @Lcsmcat Wow, I love it! Are you instrumentalists? What do you play? 4y
Lcsmcat @Andrea313 I was an oboist, but I don‘t play professionally anymore. My husband was the bass trombonist with the Utah Symphony and Opera for 22 years, but now he‘s a church musician. He‘s been engineering music for live streamed services from tracks we record individually, so we‘re both working. But a lot of our friends aren‘t in as good a place. 4y
Andrea313 @Lcsmcat Yes, I have definitely seen how completely awful this year has been for many friends and colleagues. It's so hard. I have been working on reduced hours, but am working just the same, and I count myself as incredibly lucky. Sending you and yours all the best from afar! ❤️🎶 4y
BarbaraBB Cool job you have 👌🏽 4y

Bookwomble Knowledge engenders more and more questions, perhaps? Or "one in, one out", but I don't think memory necessarily works that way, unless we're reaching cognitive overload. 5y
RamsFan1963 @Bookwomble I wonder if he means, as we learn new things, old preconceived notions we thought were true, like the earth is flat, are removed. So that way we learned something new, but also unlearned (is that a word?) something that turned out to be false. New facts replace old so we learn and discard ideas at the same time. 5y
Bookwomble Yes, I like that. 🙂 I think it's good to hold the fluidity of a concept and its many possibilities, rather than seeking to fix it in a single form. 5y
RamsFan1963 @Bookwomble I guess you can't truly learn unless you're open to the idea that everything you currently hold true might be wrong. That's why I find non-fiction history and science books so fascinating, that constant give and take between when I thought I knew to be true, and new facts/ ideas that change my viewpoint. 5y

Look Back In Anger was a track from the 1979 Lodger album. The track was produced by David Bowie and Tony Visconti but was written by Bowie and Brian Eno.
It was only released in the USA on 7" single , RCA selecting Boys Keep Swinging as the release for the rest of the world territories.

@Cinfhen @Marchpane ?

TrishB The Boys Keep Swinging track was considered too risqué for the more conservative US market at that time. With its hint at androgyny and the famous Bowie in drag video it was released worldwide except America. 7y
TrishB Look Back In Anger failed to chart high in the US, with some major critics like Charles Shaar Murray considering it "his worst single to date".
The book on Brian Eno is a fascinating read and highly recommended account of the life of this highly talented former member of Roxy Music who now is best known for being a producer of. Bowie,U2 and many others.

jessberk13 I definitely thought that was Anthony Bourdain's face before reading everything 7y
Izai.Amorim Bowie‘s Berlin years were great, maybe my favorite period in his career. 7y
TrishB @Izai.Amorim they were artistically awesome 👍 7y
