I have been fascinated with the abdication of King Edward VIII and his romance with Wallis Simpson for a while now, and recently stumbled across his memoir. This was a slow read for me, because he goes into such great detail and introduces everyone! 😂
Wallis doesn‘t really make an appearance until about 3/4 of the way through, as a heads up.

My best friend and I are making our way through a Crown-inspired reading list this year, kicking off with 17 Carnations. I am equal parts fascinated and horrified by David and Wallis, and so far
Morton's book is keeping both of those feelings alive and well! #NumberInTitle #JumpIntoJanuary #CurrentlyReading #RoyalRead

While I always enjoy reading about Wallis Simpson (and anyone who makes life difficult for the royal family), reading about her husband, the former King Edward VIII, just wasn't as interesting. He was pretty much just a whiny man-child who briefly relied on Hitler to help him find a way to reclaim the throne he gave up for the woman he loved.

I do own this book, but finally gave up trying to locate it. Instead, I found this image on line. Thank you Google! #frommetoyou #heyjune

Hoping the American marrying into the Royal Family works out better than this one. Though to be fair -they certainly seemed to love each other.
A tragic figure, however he chose his path and never looked back. What if... Not a hatchet job, yet doesn't go to in depth on certain issues. Comprehensive yet and seemingly unbiased! I'd recommend as it's well written and exhaustive. #17booksin2017 #HRM #dukeofwindsor #EdwardVIII
