The fact that I now understand this reference when it randomly appears in books almost makes The Year of Reading #Clarissa totally worth it.
Almost.

It‘s here! My #kobo came today, and I started East Lynn for my #readyourKobo I can‘t believe how light it is! @CBee
Getting definite #Clarissa vibes from this one, and I‘m only 3% in.
I do understand! I was casually listening to my audiobook today when this line caught my attention. I had to find the passage in Serial Reader and share. I never would have caught this allusion without the experience of reading #Clarissa.

“Fashionably late” to the party—thanks for the tag, @GinaKButler !
1. I have an affinity for the Revolutionary War-era and early America.
2. First read of 2024 was a biography of P.T. Barnum
3. I‘ve read most of the biggies: War and Peace, Les Mis, A Suitable Boy. But I think “Clarissa,” which I read last year with the esteemed #Clarissa group, beats them all at circa 1,800 pages.

2023 was an interesting reading year. #Clarissa was the longest book and greatest challenge of the year, and Don Quixote was plenty long as well. I don‘t really do simply favorites, instead also considering the books that I think will be the most memorable. As of this moment, these are those books of 2023 for me.
