This is part of why I'm still only halfway through this book! "I'll be fine!" I thought, "I have a decent grasp of Spanish-I love reading phrases in other languages!" Ho-ho, the hubris of it all. GIRL! You do not know Dominican slang! Or any Spanish slang at all! ? I can't believe I only allotted one page for this-& I never thought I'd be writing out Spanish vocab that included the phrase "rotten pussy" ? now I want an excuse to use it!

I picked up this for this month's #BooksThatShookUs -a great #retelling of a Lovecraft story (which I intended to read first but didn't, so it's next on my TBR). I listened to it a bit distractedly during #deweysreadathon so I'll have to revisit it to really do it justice, but I liked it a lot. Provisional 3.5⭐️s

Jess I'm half way through the audiobook and highly recommend it. I listen each day on my drive to work and always arrive with tears in my eyes. 8y

BooksForEmpathy @Jess YES! I listened to it. If you scroll up I wrote more about how amazing the audiobook is and the narration makes it come alive in the best way. I needed to own a copy though since it's going on my favorites list. 8y
