I was really torn between advancing James or Sorcery and Small Magics in my bracket, but I knew it was a bit of a moot point in the end since The Stars Too Fondly has long since been my favorite book of the year. Doing a book bracket is always such a fun way to track yearly reading. Thanks for putting this one together @CSeydel #BookBracket2024

The tagged is my top book for December 2024. But, as soon as I read Braiding Sweetgrass, I pretty much knew it was going to be my top read for the year. *Maybe* if it had gone up against the entire Rook and Rose trilogy as a whole (as you‘ll note both the first and third books of that trilogy were my favorites for their respective months)… but that‘s not the case.

It shouldn't come as any surprise to those who know me that SH would win out--even though Doyle's stories are a major reread for me. They are my fave and always will be--have been since childhood. They began my eternal love for detective stories, and for me, the game will “always be afoot.“

I wanted to finish this around Dec 31st but I had time today. It was a tough pick between Diavola, Dark Matter, and The Goblin Emperor, but The Goblin Emperor won 🎉 I don't think I'll get anything else read this year. The construction is still going on and on unpredictable days as well so it's difficult to keep on schedule. I've been treating this like a vacation.

I have read some fabulous books this year! It‘s so difficult to choose just one favorite 💛 but I‘m going with the tagged! It was fabulous and I can‘t stop thinking about it! I can‘t wait to read the entire series!
