3.25⭐️

I always appreciate a good #truecrime on something that isn‘t murder. This one touched on book theft which was interesting to learn about. My favorite part was probably talking about initiatives the professional organization took to crack down on theft.

So it‘s been a while since I‘ve been on here but I‘m really hoping to get back to using this app. Here‘s a stack of some of the books I‘m currently reading. I think I‘ll be able to get the nonfiction finished today or tomorrow 🤞

#LastTenBooks
1.Last book I gave up on:Honestly can‘t nt think of one. I‘ve learned to pick wisely.
2. Last book I re-read:REBECCA
3. Last Book I Bought: Perceval Everett‘s JAMES
4. Last Book I said I read but didn‘t:zip, zero, zilch. Never happens.
5. Last Book I wrote in the Margins of : 100 Poems to Make You Cry
6. Last book I had signed: can‘t remember - it‘s been YEARS
7. Last Book I Lost: Charlie ate Riddley Walker this week
@vivastory ⬇️

Aimeesue 8. Last Book I had to Replace: I guess that will be Riddley Walker (edited) 5mo
Aimeesue 9. Last Book I Argued Over: I don‘t really argue over books, so that is lost to the mists of time. 5mo
Aimeesue 10. Last Book I Couldn‘t Find: I know where all my books are, so the only books I can‘t find are the ones my library hasn‘t acquired yet or that there‘s a wait list for, so maybe You Like it Darker? I think that‘s the last hold I placed. (edited) 5mo

vivastory Rebecca 💙 Riddley Walker is on my TBR., I loved Hoban's Turtle Diary. I also have Everett's “James“ is waiting on my shelves. I'm curious, are you going to revisit Huck Finn beforehand? I can't wait to read the new King, but plan on reading this King story collection beforehand (edited) 5mo
Aimeesue @vivastoryDef going to re- read Huck Finn before James. Everett tucks a lot of references into his books, and I don‘t want to miss them. I love, love, love Riddley Walker for the language - such a thrill when you GET it! Any King is good King as far as I‘m concerned. Love his shorter stuff! (edited) 5mo
vivastory @Aimeesue I am a bit tempted to revisit Huck Finn. I remember when I read it in middle school that I did not care for it, but I have since read other Twain writings & really enjoyed them esp. 5mo
Aimeesue @vivastory Twain was so witty! I enjoy his stuff. Everett said that he read HF fifteen times in a row before writing James. And now he will never pick it up again 😂 5mo
Tamra I‘m so enjoying Secret Voices! 5mo
Aimeesue @Tamra it‘s really excellent! 5mo

A mini #bookhaul from the remainders/discount bookstore. I was super excited to find these as 3 out of 4 were on my wishlist for years.

Clockwise from top L:
1) Stream System - Collected Short Fiction of Gerald Murnane
2) Territory of Light - Yuko Tsushima (I think the cover is pretty but it doesn't show up well in the pic)
3) Looking for Mr Goodbar - Judith Rossner
4) The Fortnight in September - R.C. Sherriff

Tamra The Sherriff is 💙💙 8mo
batsy @Tamra Was so thrilled to find it having seen lots of Litsy love for it 😊 8mo
Ruthiella I loved A Fortnight in September-such a gentle story. I read Mr Goodbar in the last century. Good but disturbing, as I remember. 8mo

batsy @Ruthiella I've heard that about Mr Goodbar! Apparently it was also made into a movie with Diane Keaton. 8mo
LeahBergen I think you‘ll love A Fortnight. And I read Mr Goodbar back in the last century, too, @Ruthiella 😆 8mo
marleed I loved A Fortnight. In case you aren‘t aware of its origins, I think it enhances the reading experience to know when and how the book was written. 8mo
batsy @LeahBergen Fortnight seems to be quite universally loved 🙂 8mo
batsy @marleed Don't know too much about it, but thanks for the tip. Will look it up before I start reading! 8mo
Cathythoughts Nice haul. I‘m going to look up Territory of Light. ♥️ 8mo
batsy @Cathythoughts Thanks 😘 I've heard lots of good things about Territory, so I'm hoping it is 🤞🏾 8mo

Do you suffer from bibliomania? John W. Doull does — and his Dartmouth bookstore proves it - by Andrew Sampson on the CBC News website: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/john-w-doull-bookseller-profile-1.691...

Leftcoastzen I would probably want something near the bottom of the teetering stacks on the floor ! Possibly leading me to accidentally knocking it over and owner would kick me out!📚📚📚📚📚😄 8mo

Thanks for the tag @BarbaraBB this is my #Top23of23 ! I downloaded a new photo app on my phone that somehow doesn't go up to 23 grids (doesn't it understand our Litsy needs?!) so I gave up on the photo collage 😆 And I feel bad for not including the translators above. 2023 was a fantastic reading year 💜 I even had to leave out so many, like the Edith Wharton rereads & some of the Furrowed Middlebrow & Golden Age mystery club titles that I liked.

squirrelbrain Great list! 10mo
IndoorDame Great list! Dear Senthuran was one of my top reads this year too! 10mo
Megabooks Great list! 📸 10mo

Ok this may not be #Top10Summer2023 I decided to pick my top 5 as I didn‘t read nearly as many books this summer as I usually do. Life happens. The list and the tag from @batsy helped me decide to revisit what I read. All top notch in my humble opinion .😄

batsy Thank you for sharing! Great list and quality over quantity. Dr. Thorne was so close to making my list, too. I love being immersed in a Trollope book. 14mo
Cinfhen Thanks for sharing!! The Springsteen book sounds like something I NEED to read!! 14mo
