Very interesting and different sort of book than what I normally choose. That's what I like. Mixing things up a little. Body horror and the obsession with beauty. Very similar underlying themes to the movie that came out recently with Demi Moore 'The Substance' -yet very very different vibes. Fascinating, sad, and SO hard to put down. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cannot remember when I requested this one from NetGalley, but it sounds pretty fab! Getting stuck in ASAP!

Megabooks I loved this but people here have gone both ways! 1w

Spoiler here…. I am disappointed with what they did with Zane 😔. I really liked him. He was my favorite character and I loved his relationship with Tally. I‘m in denial. This one was harder to get through than the first two. The story progressed too slowly to then come to disappointing ends. However, I liked how Tally always cures herself, it shows that is always within you to become a better person. You don‘t need outside sources.

I‘m rating this book 4⭐️ because it kept me reading when I would‘ve probably quit at 30%. This was probably the weirdest book I‘ve read in my life and now I can‘t wait to read her next one! (Luckily, I have an ARC)

This book is so out of my comfort zone, but I can‘t put it down! At 60% and it just gets more weird and intense 😅

Ignoring some pretty annoying choice of words 😂, this is a great story. This book is about being human, and the literal beauty and downsides of it. It is about seeing beauty in imperfections. It is about friendship, relationships, morality, and natural but questionable human emotions such as jealousy or fear. I am amazed how the author captures so much while giving a plot that keeps you engaged. One of the best YA reads.

Soft pick - thoughts about American beauty standards through the eyes of a Korean-American teenager who must decide how far she‘s willing to go to be perceived by her peers as beautiful.

I picked this book after loving the movie and wanting to know what would happen next. Already knowing the story of the first book took some enjoyment away but it was nice learning the original details that were not shown or were slightly changed in the film. The writing can be childish but I recognize this is a YA book, target audience 10-16 yo. I'm looking forward to reading the next books and finally knowing how the story continues.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️a horrifying read exploring the dark sides of wellness and beauty industry, especially when you have many billionaires out there doing whatever the fuck they want. Body horror, gore, graphic and sad! Commentary on race, beauty standards, immigration, misogyny and capitalism rolled into one compelling speculative fiction. A MUST READ!
