Hit my goal for #novelnovember with a few hours to spare! This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series. Whenever life feels overwhelming, I love to read a book in this series. It‘s set in a small town with a coffee shop that I would love to visit. Plus it has cats. This was my last prompt (#animalonthecover) for booked2020. Another great year of great books because of great prompts!

Cinfhen Woohoo!!!! Congrats 🍾🎉 don‘t forget to post a final quarter wrap up post so we can tally your books for the drawing 🥳 4y
Andrew65 Sounds ideal Fantastic achievements 👏👏👏🙌🙌🍾🥂🍾🥂📚📚📚😊 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great finish!! 🎉 🎉 4y

Who doesn‘t love a good apocalypse book during a pandemic? This book was recommended to me as like The Stand but with magic and I have to agree. I loved it so much and can‘t wait to get my hands on the next book #summerfun #onaudio
Also using for #animalonthecover for #booked2020

Cinfhen Glad u loved it! 5y
alisiakae 🙌 🙌 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I loved this one also. The second and third sadly didn‘t live up to its promise for me. YMMV 5y

Whenever I read a book like this I am astounded by the imagination some people have. These stories were strange and surreal and used their otherworldliness to illustrate trauma, mortality, and autonomy. I particularly loved the women as silkworms story and the title story. Eerie and strange in the best ways. #animalonthecover #booked2020

sarahbarnes I liked her novel Swamplandia and agree with you on her creativity. I haven‘t read any of her short stories yet. 5y

Brilliant! Oliver expressed so many feelings and observations that I‘ve had with my beloved dogs in my life. That is the magic of poetry, isn‘t it? To put feelings we are unable to express into words. We are so lucky to have dogs in our lives! #Booked2020 #animalonthecover @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft @Cinfhen

The World That We Knew | Alice Hoffman

#Netgalley #ARC
This book focuses on Lea and Ettie, and the golem called Ava who was created by Ettie and Lea‘s mother to protect Lea. Set in 1941 and continuing for 4 years, the novel is beautifully written focusing on the 3 lives. Other characters include Marianne, Lea‘s family and partner, and a host of other minor characters. I also enjoyed the information about being a Jew and the religious aspects were not overwhelming. #booked2020

Cinfhen I‘m a huge fan of Alice Hoffman, plus I enjoy Jewish Literature but for some reason this particular book was only ok for me. I‘m glad you enjoyed it and I agree, a lot of historical information was included into the storyline in an easy and compelling way. 5y
NeedsMoreBooks @Cinfhen this was my second Hoffman. I usually do t like historical fiction but I liked this one. Which is your favorite Hoffman? 5y

A good example of “be careful what you wish for.” Lucy and Owen decide to try an open marriage, for a limited amount of time, and with a set of ground rules. Of course, things don‘t go as planned. A quick, enjoyable read!

Was an entertaining read and reminded me of a case my mum had where the woman told her to ask the dog what he thought 😂🐶

Mehso-so

This is very, very YA. It also appears to be an attempt at Twilight minus vampires plus extra werewolves. I enjoyed some bits quite a lot, but there was also a lot of eye rolling. 😬

I didn‘t hate it, but I decided to read the summaries of the rest of the series and definitely won‘t be continuing.

⭐️⭐️1/2

This was my #AnimalOnTheCover book for #Booked2020. Circled for the convenience of our lovely hostesses. 😂

sprainedbrain Also! I freaking LOVE The Raven Cycle by this author, so there‘s that. 5y
Crewgurl Sooooo much eye rolling!!!!!! 5y
Clare-Dragonfly Funny, your description is exactly what I expected when I read this series, but I ended up loving it! 5y

TheAromaofBooks @Clare-Dragonfly - same! And I don't usually enjoy angsty YA so I honestly can't explain why I ended up loving these books 😂 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage LOL. Thanks for the circle! Good job on making it through the eye rolls. 5y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I wasn't into this one either. 5y
Kimberlone Even when I read this in high school, when this series was first released, I remember it feeling very juvenile. 5y
Cinfhen I DEFINITELY needed that circle ⭕️ 😉 5y
sprainedbrain @BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen I am very gifted at circling. 🤣 5y
