Amiable @Suet624 I used to be a daily news consumer. I read WaPo, NYT, the Atlantic, local news sites, etc. Since 11/6, I can't do it. My eyes skip over anything that at a glance appears political in nature. My brain has disengaged. Where I would once get inspired or irritated into action, I now find myself shrugging and saying, “oh well. That's what they voted for. Not my concern.“ Even though it most definitely is going to be my/our problem(s). 1mo

dabbe @Suet624 @Amiable Same here. Matt and I do our NYT puzzles in the morning and when we skim the news, ANYTHING that has “He who shall not be named“ on a headline, is avoided like the plague. And my faith in the majority of the people in the US has gone kaput--draining right down the proverbial swamp. 1mo

Mythos: A Retelling of the Myths of Ancient Greece | Stephen Fry

I consider myself semi knowledgeable in Greek mythology, but Stephen Fry is letting me know that there is still much more to learn! Bosporus and Oxford are basically the same word and get their origins from the story of Io (and Zeus being a cad, again). Plus I learned why the peacock is sacred to Hera! Amiable I knew that “ford“ indicated water crossings -- where I live there are a number of towns near the shore that have it in their name (i.e. Guilford, Waterford, Milford, Stratford, etc.). I didn't know that Bosphorus was connected. Cool! 2mo
