There are more than #TwoTribes in the Philippines, in fact there are 134 ethnic groups, mostly indigenous, there. About a dozen tribes were put on display at the St. Louis Exposition, the most popular were the Igorrotes & a tribe of them was recruited & brought for display at Coney Island in 1905. I like to give this fascinating yet dismaying book about their treatment a little love now & then—it‘s a great book.

I read this book years ago and what occurred between the Hutu and Tutsi in Rwanda is beyond heartbreaking. Even though I don't have words I can put to this it is important that we know about our history and never forget.

DGRachel I checked this out from the library last year, I think, but had to take it back unread because I‘d just finished a couple of books on Syrian refuges and needed a rainbows and puppies and kittens break. I do want to get back to it, though. 5y

West Side Story | Irving Shulman

Technically not so much #TwoTribes as Two Gangs, this (now not quite so) modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet saw the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks cause many unnecessary deaths. Almost 60 years on, it still has relevance - so much so that a new version directed by Steven Speilberg is due out next year 😱 Screenplay writer Tony Kushner has stated he will be leaving the #Music intact.

This memoir is utterly heartbreaking. Tuhabonye was the lone survivor in a horrific attack of genocide, involving #TwoTribes in Africa, the Hutu and the Tutsi. What he witnessed, and what he escaped, no one of any age should witness. It‘s so good he told his story. #RedRoseSeptember
