First book read for #scarathlon! Black cat pictured bc spooky… but that‘s the only reason.
Two ex-cons investigate their sons‘ deaths. Their sons happen to be gay, and there are some difficult scenes as the fathers deal with their own anti-gay sentiment and that of others. I like how Cosby writes these men - they are flawed, interesting and believable - and his books are action-packed. I liked Blacktop Wasteland slightly more than this one. ⬇️

Earlier this month I read the first 4 stories in this collection and just didn't finish. Maybe next year I'll read for more. The title story, Perchance to Dream was good, but the other three were just OK. They feel a bit formulaic, so it's prongs built good to not read them all in one sitting.

Imagine being a supernatural of the vampire, witch or demon variety, and having people telling you what to do, always. I can't imagine vampires would want to live forever with this sort of bureaucratic bullshit dominating their lives. I listened to the audiobook. The narrator was adept at the various accents but the weird way she drags out her "twooo"s grates. A book this large would benefit from having a second narrator of the male variety. ⬇️

Celebrating Halloween with her mother who has Alzheimer‘s was a very special event. But it led to the main character realizing so much more about her mother‘s condition. Extremely touching. 25 stories with exactly 100 words each. A few were LOL, especially the first one about a Kia Optima. You‘ll love it. Some were nonsensical. I like my spooky stories to still make sense.
