This is a book about betrayal, suicide and murder. Joe Thorne's sister, Annie, went missing. She was 8 years old. Joe has returned to his hometown as he got an email that said that things were happening again. Joe seems to know who did it. This book fell short. a psychological suspense thriller with supernatural. I was let down by the ending. The Chalk Man was better!

vivastory I agree. Chalk Man is better 👍A similar book, but better executed is 5y
FantasyChick I enjoyed this one but I did like The Chalk Man a lot too! 16pts 5y

This book was my second book by David Bell and he did not disappoint. I read this book in 2016 and loved everything about it. From the mystery and suspense to the pain and guilt of each family member. #thehidingplace #davidbell #quickread #thesuspenseisthrillingme #bookworm #addictedtosuspense

Holy shit. C.J. Tudor did it again. Brilliantly twisty, chillingly creepy, and a total page-turner. #thehidingplace #cjtudor

Yes!!!! Stayed up late for this one and finished in a night. I found The Chalk Man weird and sort of creepy, but this one was entirely unsettling! Mystery mixed with small-town lore mixed with ghosts from the past.
TW for suicide and dead children
