Did someone say boxer? Muhammad Ali just has to be the greatest boxing legend! To achieve what he did amongst the rampant racism of the time. What a great role model then, and even more after he finished with boxing and he had to battle Parkinson‘s. The world is a poorer place without him and I am not even a boxing fan!

Cormoran Strike, former boxer and current PI, along with his partner Robin are brought in by the family of a govt minister to stop a blackmail plot. Lots of twists and turns involving government officials, wayward children, and former employees. Good winter break read. I always enjoy Strike and Robin‘s relationship. #winterwonderland #theboxer

It's a while since i read this but recall it was a gut wrenching story of boxing at its lowest reaches in the boxing clubs of the East end.
Anyway back to reading, eating, drinking and periodically nodding off before we all watch ABC murders.

Written in 1925, translated in French in 1928, it still is as interesting and vibrant as it was then. New York shines through all the pages. Dark and light, how the richs live and how the poors die. How one survives and how your life becomes filled with shades of grey. #winterwonderland #theboxer
