#WinterGames24 #HolidayBookDragons @LiseWorks Total Pts 2050

We read this for book club, and I did enjoy it, but there's a lot of plot packed into too few pages. It's also not at all a cozy mystery, but rather more a straight mystery. It felt a bit like the author could have stretched this into a series, instead of shoving everything into one book. But I enjoyed it.

As we get ready to move into this last week of 2024/beginning of 2025, remember to take time for self-care, everyone!

MatchlessMarie Loved this series! The Christmas themed one that comes after this was so good too. 🎁 2w
NovelGirl82 @MatchlessMarie I‘m really loving it too! I read the first while I was on vacation in November. I have the Christmas one to read next, but I didn‘t want to read out of order in case there were any spoilers for this one. 2w

On my second book of the day (the first was a re-read of Christmas Cupcake Murder) while the hubs plays Witcher and we wait for the Independence Bowl to start. Have to get in all the fun reading I can while winter break is still on! Hope you‘re all having a good weekend!

Day 14: Bell. This is a bell from the Polar Express. Our local train station runs an amazing Polar Express experience every Christmas. We went a few times when the girls were younger and it was so good. Plus amazing hot chocolate.

Halfwayr through with this one and so far it‘s very intriguing- the eerie wasteland makes me think of Vandermeer‘s Annhilation/ Southern Reach novels which I also enjoyed lots!

Mehso-so

Be forewarned that this is not a cosy mystery. There is a lot of domestic violence and rape as well as traumatic birth covered in this book. The cover and title are misleading in their cutsieness. I liked the author's descriptive writing style, and I liked the main character very much, but the ending was overwhelming, and I felt yanked around.

DogMomIrene Yikes! Somebody in marketing has some explaining to do. Not cool! 1mo
LibrarianRyan I ended up DNFing this book. I‘m glad you made it to the end. 1mo
bookandbedandtea I had the same thoughts when I read it last year: it was a decent story but it was NOT AT ALL what I was expecting, and wanting, to read. 1mo
LiteraryinPA Yikes! That cover is WAY off! 1mo
