Whenever I see Lahti, I can't help but think of 1988's "Running on Empty" movie where she played River Phoenix's mom. The family is on the run from the parents' involvement in a protest bombing & sing "Fire and Rain in the film & when I hear the song, it sounds of then.❤️#nostalgia

BookishJess02 I liked it though it's be years since I've seen it, so I can't honestly say if I remember it fondly due to nostalgia or quality. I think it was well-received when it cam out. 7y

CarolynM To be fair, you're only going to be watching lightening crack over cane fields in North Queensland. Most of us are watching over our hills hoists in our back yards!😂 (edited) 7y

Lizpixie @CarolynM that is true, I really meant the atmosphere the words bring up. Plus I have done exactly that, my best friend moved to Bundaberg years ago, Queensland has the best storms. And cane toads. Mustn‘t forget the cane toads.🐸 7y

I read this one years ago, and it remains one of the best musical/cultural histories I've read. Charting the birth and rise of hip-hop music and culture in the United States, from East Coast to West, Old School to New. A broad undertaking, but compulsively readable and incredibly fascinating.

#MarchIntoOz Day 29: This has a distinct feel and vibe of #SoundsOfThen especially since the setting is in the early 1920s. It has a unique voice that I can not wait to read more of. Paired with husband‘s unbelievably delicious glutinous rice cake (or bibingka in Tagalog).
