Pickpick

This made me nostalgic for getting up on Saturday mornings and watching cartoons in my pjs. I‘m not really sure how long I actually did that as I have always liked sleep, but it definitely made me sentimental about the idea. Not every cartoon that aired is included, but it‘s still a fun flashback to some of the cartoons of my childhood. #nonfiction #somethingyouwerentlookingfor

Read in April.

Bookzombie @Suet624 You had me at Oreo cookies. 🤤 5y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Great job! I‘m pacing myself out too... I want to stretch it out over the year. 6y
SconsinBookyBadger @Riveted_Reader_Melissa good to know! I‘ve seen other littens with almost filled cards and I was like I need to catch up. 😂 🐢 🐇 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @AnansiGirl Yes 😂 I few did coverall already! But I definitely need to space out my non-fiction with some other genres. So take your time, you have over half the year yet! 6y
Smarkies Good to know that other people are also going as slowly as me! 😂😂 6y
SconsinBookyBadger @Smarkies we‘re doing ok with reading at our own pace 🙌🏼 😄 6y

#nonfiction2019 #SomethingYouWerentLookingFor | This was an Audible daily deal last week and I grabbed it without knowing anything about it! Wow! It was great! Goldfarb is a journalist who did a ton of research for this, but it‘s written like a great story, totally engaging! Superb on audio with Will Damron narrating! The book just won 🏅2019 PEN/E.O Wilson prize for literary science writing!

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Sounds really good, and I‘ve never heard of this one before. 6y
AnneFindsJoy @Riveted_Reader_Melissa - yeah i hadnt either, I‘m so glad I discovered it! Highly recommend it! (edited) 6y

Up next is my pick for #NonFiction2019 #SomethingYouWerentLookingFor #MountTBR2019 #Bk9 & #Pop19 #PopSugarReadingChallenge #BookYouThinkShouldBeAMovie The story of Sandra Pankhurst, a trans woman in Australia, who overcame abuse as a child & then coming to terms with her sexuality as an adult, becomes a trauma cleaner who deals with other people‘s pain. Comes highly recommended by littens I trust. And I‘m stoked it‘s another #AussieLit book!

Cathythoughts The cover of this book really freaks me out. And I‘m ok with scarey books usually.... 6y
JacqMac This one is so good! Heartbreaking, but well told. 6y
JennyM It is soooo good. Sandra is an amazing lady. Enjoy 6y

Wow. Just wow. Highly recommend this book to anyone interested in intersectional feminism or race in America. One thing, I was vaguely aware of is the black-black, immigrant-black distinction, but this book really drove home to me how many different Americas there are. 4⭐️

Her essay on being pregnant was devastating. May be a TW for some. 💕
