pickEvery year I try to read a book set in each US state and sometimes I end up with some strange reading material. Some of this book about regenerative farming in North Dakota went over my head, but some parts were actually very interesting. I don‘t think I‘ll ever own a farm but if I do this is definitely the way I would go.
pickA great introduction into a rapidly expanding field of research and application. Who knew that plants NEEDED bacteria, fungi, nematodes, and protozoa to thrive? Time to set aside all the dangerous chemicals and team up with the soil food web. Nobody ever fertilized an old growth forest.s

pickBook #5 of the year: “The Earth Moved” by Amy Stewart
Absolutely amazing book about earthworms, mostly in the US but with a few looks around the world. If you‘re interested in worms, composting, or agriculture, definitely a book for you. I loved every page.
pickInstead of “you are what you eat,” think “you are what your food eats.” A tad on the dry side (many studies are cited), but very informative. Soil health is incredibly important. What is good for us is what is good for the land.
