Like the curious cat, I gotta know, @Cinfhen , or anyone else, what are the hashtags #MOvember and #papadontpreach all about?? I‘m finding all the books fascinating that are playing under those hashtags!!

Cinfhen Ha!!! Cute graphics😻😻😻I‘m hosting a monthly challenge based off of the songs of Madonna (#MOvember) and I guess it was day 21 that the song title was #PapaDontPreach. If you want to join in for the last week I can tag you on the original post. Basically you think of a book that corresponds to either title, lyrics whatever. No pressure and a nice way to interact with others🎶 5y
Caroline2 Cute!!!! 😍 5y
LinesUponAPage @Cinfhen I would love to play. Darn I‘ve missed so many days. I‘ve been wondering for a week, and finally I‘m like, “why don‘t you just ask, duh...” I loved Madonna as a teen, especially the Blue album. Spanish Lullaby was my first song to play for my first child. I just thought it was so pretty. (edited) 5y

Howards End | E M Forster

Pickpick

"It was, however illogically, the good, the beautiful, the true, as opposed to the respectable, the pretty, the adequate. It was a landscape of Bocklin's beside a landscape of Leader's, strident and ill-considered, but quivering into supernatural life."
The contrast of the life of ideas led by the Schlegal sisters to the respectability of the Wilcoxes is explored in shrewd observations and sweeping musings on the changes in early ?

Billypar 20th century England. That sounds...boring. But it's not! Forster is not what I was expecting: way ahead of his time - nothing seems safe or dull. He lets himself get carried away with a line of thought, but never so much that he loses coherence. The Schlegals are compelling characters as we watch them rebel against some #papadontpreach characters that love technological progress and fear progressive ideas. @MOvember #ThoughtIWouldntLikeButDid 5y
twohectobooks EM Forster is so good. His books read like they were published much later. 5y

Cinfhen Images are gorgeous and book sounds wonderful too! #MaybeOneDay 5y
batsy I love this book so much 💜 Great point about how nothing seems safe or dull in his writing. 5y
Billypar @twohectobooks Agreed! He kind of seems like someone who was born into the wrong time. 5y
Billypar @Cinfhen I never would have picked it up if I didn't have Zadie Smith's On Beauty that is supposed to be inspired by it. 5y
Billypar @batsy Yeah, there were some passages that did all this wild stuff, and I was almost surprised when I reread them and it seemed like he was onto something. 5y
Leftcoastzen ❤️❤️❤️More people should read him. 5y
Billypar @Leftcoastzen Definitely! 🙄 5y
Anna40 Read almost all of Forster's books. My favorites are Howard's End, Maurice and A room with a view. But also loved Where angels fear to tread and Passage to India 5y
Billypar @Anna40 Thanks for those recommendations - I'm looking forward to reading more of his! 5y
Anna40 Yes. He's a wonderful author. But your post made me want to reread some of his books. I was in my 20s when I read them. Would be interesting to see how I feel about them now, especially the Schlegel sisters :) 5y
Billypar @Anna40 I don't reread much, but I do wonder about the favorites I read in my 20s- I'm just nervous they won't live up to how I remember them. But I think you'd still enjoy Howards End and the Schlegals. 5y

The first book I thought about.

MicheleinPhilly That is disturbing on so many levels. 😂 5y
julesG @MicheleinPhilly Have been trying to find another book but my mind just pointed me to this. 😁 I wonder why. 5y
Billypar Yikes - his parishioners are in trouble deep. 5y

DAY 21 #PapaDontPreach | Rachel Jeffs, daughter of incarcerated prophet Warren Jeffs, explains in detail what it was like growing up in her family. This is an incredibly tough read, but she deserves to be heard.

BarbaraBB Another FLDS book I should read. 5y
BarbaraBB That picture gives me chills by the way. 5y
britt_brooke @BarbaraBB Totally creepy, isn‘t it? 🙈 5y
Cinfhen Definitely need to get to this book in 2020 5y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen Yes! It‘s really good, and so interesting to get the perspective of one of his daughters. 5y

I‘ve drawn a blank on today‘s #Movember prompt, so going with the Papa bit. In this memoir, Christopher Ecclestone discusses how important his father has been in his life.

#PapaDontPreach @Cinfhen

Cinfhen Im not really familiar with this actor but the blurb sounds really good. Have you read this yet?? 5y
Tineke @Cinfhen, he is the first actor to have played the doctor in Doctor Who in the new and rebooted series. Which was a great start to a new addiction of mine. 5y
TheEllieMo @Cinfhen not yet 🤦‍♀️ It‘s on the list (so many books, so little time!). Ecclestone himself has had a long career on stage and screen, but seems to shun the limelight. 5y
Cinfhen I TOTALLY know all about #SoManyBooksSoLittleTime 5y

I‘ve been intrigued by the buddy reading of the tagged book this month. So when it was sitting in the library yesterday, I took it as a sign and grabbed it. It also works for today - a #papadontpreach moment 😊

Cinfhen Love when the universe cooperates 😜 5y
Hooked_on_books If you finish by Sunday, you can participate in the final round of discussions! They‘re fun and interesting. 5y
JennyM @Hooked_on_books thank you. I should get it finished by then. Enjoying it so far 😊 5y

Kalalalatja Definitely a sign 😉 5y
JennyM @Kalalalatja @cinfhen and especially as Nov 22 is the day JFK was assassinated and that is what this book is about! 😯 5y
TrishB I‘ve looked at this one a few times! 5y
JennyM @TrishB I‘ve had it on the TBR for a long while, so glad to be finally getting to it. Hope you‘re on the mend, Trish. The lurgy sounds terrible 😘 (edited) 5y
Cinfhen That‘s right! I love when dates coincide ❣️I couldn‘t get into this book and returned it unread to the library 5y
