My favorite part of the new office I moved into today— everyone should have a cozy blanket and a basket of books in their space.

Rereading Ovid because my friend is (of course) so we can talk about it. I have this v pretty edition right up front next to my Tristram Shandy ♥️✨

slategreyskies Now I want a book basket! How did it never occur to me that this was an option? 📚♥️ 4mo
StaceGhost @slategreyskies it makes the books in the back curve a little but I cycle through so quickly it doesn‘t give me any issues— boxy baskets are better lol 4mo

The Art of Love, and Other Poems | Publius Ovidius Naso

Enjoying Ovid‘s cosmetics recipes along with my tea at the doctor‘s office. Every time I get a break I get sick 💀still, my doctor prescribed steroids so I should be able to luxuriate in bed while I read more on the art of love 💕 maybe I should get some barley tea for a mask— Ovid swears by it! I‘ll leave the lead out though 😅

monkeygirlsmama @Aims42 Isn't it though?! I love it! (edited) 12mo
monkeygirlsmama Sadly I haven't been in the right mood for deep Greek poetry and have, therefore, been taking my sweet time with this one. This wouldn't ordinarily be a problem, but apparently it's due back at the library already and there's someone else anxious for its return. As I don't want to be THAT person, you know the one that holds up the queue, I guess it will have to go back onto my TBR list so I can return it tonight. Until next time, beautiful book! 11mo

Stopped by the library to pick up a book my daughter had on hold, and ended up being distracted by the NEW ARRIVALS shelf. Ended up grabbing these two to dive into. I'd be lying if I didn't say I picked the Ovid purely because of this stupid, amazing, beautiful Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition cover! (And the blurb for the other one sounded way too trippy to pass up.)

Recent acquisitions:

📖 Chaucer: Sources and Backgrounds edited by Robert P. Miller
📖 Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, edited by Sarah E. Maier [ I collect editions of Tess - this is my 27th ]

Bookwomble Tess of the d'Urberville's was my late sister's favourite book, after which she named my niece. I have a Folio copy, but haven't felt emotionally ready to read it. 1y

#mythologyretelling #booked2022 @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @alisiakae
This novel abt 2 sisters is a retelling of the ovid metamorphosis tale of iphis, a mother prays to the gods to hide her daughter from a husband who will her the child if it is not a boy. Touching on corporations who monetise water, environmental protest, and fluid sexuality this is told with Ali Smith's usual style that I love + was an interesting introduction the myth.

Cinfhen Great review! 2y
