I love a good witch goddess story just as much as the next reader, but this one just left me flat. #Unpopularopinion I know. But I didn‘t like Circe, thought the story only plodded along, and struggled to finish this one. Made me sad, b/c I loved The Song of Achilles with my whole heart.

Emily92Bibliophile Have you read this one yet? A good Witch story 3y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Emily92Bibliophile I have heard good things and bought it on ebook sale recently! Thanks. 💕 3y
Ruthiella I totally agree with you! I loved The Song of Achilles but though Circe was boring. Oh well. 3y

Cinfhen It took me awhile to get into this book and in the end I liked it / but not nearly as much as Song of Achilles 3y
Cinfhen @Emily92Bibliophile your book sounds GREAT!! And I see I‘ve already stacked it 🤩 3y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen Yes, same. Although I never really loved it. @Ruthiella Yaass. Glad to know I‘m not alone. 3y
alisiakae I loved this one, but read it before Song if Achilles. I wonder if I would have felt differently if I read SoA first. 3y
Emily92Bibliophile @Barbara @Cinfhen it‘s wonderful! There is not much Norse Mythology that is told from the female perspective and this one is 👍🏻 I loved Cerci but I understand how some readers don‘t like it. 🤷‍♀️Not a witch but Ariadne is superb. (edited) 3y
Emily92Bibliophile @BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen other Greek retellings that are superb: The Silence of the Girls, Till we Have Faces, A Thousand Ships, and Cassandra Speaks ( semi retelling) 3y
Cinfhen I read Ariadne, A Thousand Ships & Silence of the Girls & LOVED them all @Emily92Bibliophile I‘ll have to look for the other two you mentioned. I‘m also hoping to read 3y
Cinfhen And I just read and loved this one but it‘s very loosely based on Greek mythology 3y
Emily92Bibliophile @Cinfhen those are so good! I‘m glad you read them! I have Daughters of Sparta and the Women of Troy as my next reads 💙 3y

#bookreport is only 3 books as this past week was super busy with the reopening of one of our system‘s branches following a renovation project. Really enjoyed the three I did read though!
Going to be a bit less optimistic with my #weeklyforecast since this is the week before Christmas! 😱
Still so much to do to get ready!

Cinfhen A lot of great books on this page!!! So glad you posted and shared!!! I just bought this one for #NewYearWhoDis (edited) 3y
Chelsea.Poole @Cinfhen I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Olympus. Hope it works for you too 😊 3y

I'm usually bored by world war books (there are too many!) but oh my gosh, this book made me cry. Haunting, romantic, and heartbreaking, with a fascinating frame of Greek mythology (!!!!), plus the prettiest cover of the year. #pop19 #bookinspiredbymythologylegendorfolklore #readingwomenchallenge #mythretelling @thereadingwomen

Pickpick

Despite the slow burn and length of time it took me to get through this YA fantasy, I ultimately ended up enjoying it. I loved the mythology and world-building, but the plot itself kind of plodded along. The story is very much rooted in Japanese folklore, and I loved that aspect! Enough for me to pick up the sequel when it is published later this year.

tjwill Happy birthday! 🎉🎂 May I ask you a strange question? May I use a screenshot of your review in a presentation that I am giving? I could use one of my own, but would prefer to use someone else‘s since I‘m also showing my profile. It‘s about YA Lit and bookish social media. 6y
alisiakae @tjwill Sure, that‘s fine! Thank you for asking first! 6y
