I didn't read the book, but I just finished the Netflix documentary. Yet another story of unsung heroes who faced disgusting discrimination to pave the way for future generations. It was heartbreaking to watch those who are still with us tell their story, but it ended on a positive note. I feel like the documentary did a good job of telling the story, but I'm glad to see there is a book as well.

@ElizaMarie I realized this morning that I kept mentioning the book that the astronauts wrote about their missions, but never told you the name of the book or showed you the cover.

Title: We Seven
Author: usually Scott Carpenter comes up as the author

I have only read part of it, because they go into more details about the missions and get technical about some things, so it has been a slower read for me, but still interesting.

ElizaMarie Oooo it looks super good. But I don't know if it would be super good but... yeah if its super technical I might not be super interested. 5y
AsYouWish @ElizaMarie I didn‘t mean to make it sounds bad. I just meant that since they were in the military and then became astronauts they had a very specific way of explaining things. And maybe since I tried to read it after The Astronaut Wives Club, I was used to the way that book was written and almost the “romance” of it that this one was a bit of a turn. 5y
ElizaMarie @AsYouWish I will try it out eventually. I feel like it would be interesting to say the least :) 5y

My #libraryhaul to celebrate Juneteenth, Pride Month, and the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Which to read first? (Books in the background are husbands, not mine!)

bookishkai Martha Ackman is a professor at my alma mater, but I‘ve heard great things about The Prince and the Dressmaker, so I‘d go with either of those! 6y

Pickpick

I picked this book up during a visit to Kennedy Space Center, and I am upset that more people don‘t know about this story. A must-read for anyone interested in the early space program!

I love that the author chose this particular artwork as the #Frontispiece

This was illuminated by #Renaissance #Alchemist, #NicolasFlamel and is an allegorical piece illustrating the transformation of #Mercury as a crucified snake
