Bechdel is unflinchingly honest about her father and their relationship, as well as her own coming out, but she injects humor and a literary bent into personal drama and crisis. The drawings are skillful and deserve to be poured over, but this could also be a #quickread with plans for an immediate reread. #memorablememoirs #booktober

When I was in high school, Dr. David Faber came and gave a talk about his experiences. Afterwards, you could get a copy of his signed book. I remember the feeling his talk left, if not the exact things he went through. Incredibly moving and heartbreaking.
In another year, our English class read Night. Both are amazing, if sad, memoirs (and both I really need to do a re-read).

I'm generally all fiction, all the time but I had to listen to this one - I love all the panel shows that David Mitchell appears on - from Would I Lie To You, Q.I, The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Was It Something I Said?... so this didn't feel like too big of a leap for me... #memorablememoirs #booktober
