Survive the Night: A Novel | Riley Sager

I‘m giving this a low pick — I loved the first half of the book and would have read the whole thing in one sitting if I hadn‘t waited til 3 am to start it 😬, but the second half got almost a little too unbelievable, although not to the point where the ending wasn‘t satisfying. I can honestly say, minus the stupidity of the main character in various places throughout the book, I have never felt like a character WAS me more so than this one. ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Sorry if this isn‘t making much sense, but what I mean is, our backgrounds are so similar - I was in a horrible car accident with my mother when I was 11. She thankfully didn‘t die but almost did (and I fractured my back). It was life-changing and I‘ve never seen it described better than this character does, about why she won‘t drive. That and her easygoing laid-back personality, her love for old movies (although darn, I don‘t see movies in ⬇️ 3y

JenlovesJT47 My head lol), and her desire not to be the center of attention, I have never related more to a book character in my life. Now where we vastly differ is I‘ve grown up watching way too much true crime shit and never in a million years would go on a long (or short😳) car ride with some dude I don‘t know 😆. That being said, I saw the twist coming from a mile away. I guess what started to bother me at the halfway point was her “quirk” and how that ⬇️ 3y

JenlovesJT47 Made her a highly unreliable narrator, which was frustrating, but I guess it was also effective because I had to finish it ASAP to see how it ended. I liked the epilogue. Overall, enjoyable but not perfect. 3.5⭐️ Thanks to anyone who read this far and for letting me ramble. At one point, as I was reading about her parents‘ accident, I was hit with such a strong PTSD flashback that I‘ve never had, a very vivid long-buried memory that took ⬇️ 3y

So the other week my real life & Litsy Life converged in the MOST WONDERFUL WAY❣️ I had the pleasure of meeting @ElishaLovesBooks & her hubby in ISRAEL (& actually had them at my house) ❤️ It felt like old friends, just hanging out😊 we spent a few hours talking food, books & everything in between. Then this morning I received #surprisebookmail an Amazon delivery, right to my door & it was a fabulous cookbook from Elisha & Yitzy🎉 THANK YOU 😘👇🏼
