Walking and listening...and seeing evidence of the World‘s and especially America‘s consumption problem on my walks...it‘s an interesting amalgam of personal experience with her mother‘s hoarding, societal analysis, and historical storytelling so far. Guess which part is my favorite...

My latest #konmari project is still in progress so no updated #shelfie just yet. But! I will be getting rid of a whole bunch of books.

#konmari book sorting continues. So far I have about thirty books that won‘t be staying in my collection. Tomorrow or later today I‘ll be looking at my “practical” books like cookbooks, reference books, dictionaries, etc. I‘m also including music books in this category, and that‘s going to be tackled on Tuesday.

Doing an eight week #konmari tidy challenge and this week is BOOKS. I did go through my books a few years ago using this method but I‘m going to be a bit more ruthless this time because I‘m running out of shelf space since my brother moved in. This is my before #shelfie. The living room is a bit messy due to other things that are ongoing in my life (ha).

Pickpick

I don‘t think I began to fully appreciate the brilliance of this satirical classic until Flora let the bull out. Then it hit me and it all started to warm me from the inside out. Gibbons is obviously a true appreciator of nature, both that in humans and in the world around us. 👇

saresmoore Her wit is sharp, not because it was honed by literary aspirations, but because she cared enough to take a step back and see things from outside of the swirling expectations created by societal norms & entertainment. It‘s clever, hilarious, and beautiful. What an excellent book. 6y
saresmoore This I just read for fun, but it counts for #Popsugar reading challenge as a book that inspired a common phrase: “I saw something nasty in the woodshed...” 6y
LeahBergen Oh, I‘m so glad you loved it, too! 😍😍 6y

LeahBergen I loved the imagery of Seth lolling everywhere with his shirt buttons going lower and lower! And Adam‘s “liddle mop” that he was so pleased with! ❤️❤️ 6y
cathysaid Litzy‘s description of this one is intriguing! 6y
sophierayton I finished this book today too! How funny :-) I really enjoyed it and glad you did too - whimsy to the max! 6y
saresmoore @LeahBergen Yes! Also Mr. Mybug‘s sexualization of nature. And I will never forget the image of Aunt Ada Doom all decked out black leather. 😂 6y
saresmoore @sophierayton I love it! Yes, it was really a delightful read. ♥️ 6y
saresmoore @cathysaid I‘d say it‘s a pretty good synopsis! 6y
LauraBeth I want Roz Chast to illustrate every book cover ever 😂 6y
saresmoore @LauraBeth Yes, so good! 6y
Suet624 Flowers!!!! How lovely. 6y
merelybookish I had this book and purged it unread in a Marie Kondo inspired fit of tidying up. Looking back, how did it not spark joy?! 😲 6y
saresmoore #konmari made me do some strange things, too! I‘m doing another minimalization this month, but I think I‘ll mostly avoid getting rid of books...just to be on the safe side. (Worst approach ever. 🙃) 6y
saresmoore @Suet624 I picked up a bouquet from Trader Joe‘s in honor of my sweet Elliott‘s 8th birthday on Monday! 6y
Suet624 Awww... happy birthday to your sweetie pie. 6y
ValerieAndBooks I enjoyed this one...cover definitely was irresistible!! 6y
batsy This is such a brilliant book! I don't have this edition but I agree with @ValerieAndBooks the cover is irresistible 😍 6y

Yay!! We got rid of only about 25 games and puzzles, and kept about 115 or so. But — some of the ones we got rid of were bulky. And everything fits so well now! 😍

This tidying up thing is kind of addicting. I was just walking by the fridge and randomly tossed 5 magnets because they didn‘t spark joy. 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ #KonMari

Today is puzzles and board games day! These are turning out to actually be harder than books, which surprises me! I think it‘s because I know I can still get the books I parted with from the library. But games can‘t be so easily replicated. #konmari

Avanders 🤭🤭 I thought we had a lot of games! That would be hard to parse out .. good luck! 🍀 6y
Wife Wow!😮 6y

#KonMari -ing my bedroom and getting rid of a bunch of books even if they were gifts. It‘s very freeing. I️ already owned only about 50 books and I‘m weeding them down even more.

I️ used to do this thing where I️ used a piece of notebook paper as a bookmark and wrote down quotes I️ liked.

In 2012 I️ wrote down stuff that reflects that even back then I️ was looking for answers that I only very recently found the answers to.

DivineDiana Glad you found some answers! 7y
