Brilliant last novel in the DCI Banks series.Of course there is the requisite music,food,wines,&craft beer.Two intriguing storylines:2019-after archeologists uncover a modern skeleton with evidence of a murder,Banks is tasked with uncovering the skeletons identity.1980s- Nick Hartley is devastated by the murder of his ex-girlfriend.His story ends up being somehow intertwined with the later murder.Police corruption is involved.#10BeforetheEnd

Poe is home! He went downstairs on his own four paws this morning; We did not have to carry him. He finally ate & drank lots this morning. His meds seem to be helping. I am enjoying a well deserved glass of Chardonnay while I await a Chinese food delivery.We almost lost Poe today- his breathing was labored, he was lethargic,not eating.At first one doctor suggested putting him down but my husband asked for fluid testing,bloodwork etc.they did all that & aspired fluid from his chest- it was clear.We have him back home while waiting test results.He is on lasix.🙏🏻

A satisfying second installment in the DCI Banks series. I love the setting in England and the descriptions of scenery and main characters. I will continue to part 3!

Thanks to @kspenmoll I started this series and I did enjoy it. This first installment was written in the 1980s and it‘s rather misogynistic but I didn‘t really mind. I liked the characters and the setting and am curious about the second book.
