A sweet story about an exceptional child dealing with the death of her parents, and the people who become part of her journey.

This is about 12 year old Willow Chance: genius, adoptee, orphan. A weird and wonderful kid dealing with grief.

This year I switched from teaching JH English & Math to JH & HS math, but I‘ve kept my class library as most of the books are mine personally. So, I‘m trying something a little different to promote a few books each month on a particular topic. This was my August display as we started the new year.

willaful Oh, I wish I'd known about these when my math girl was younger! 7mo

The Charlie Thorne series is fantastic. Charlie is a genius who works with members of the CIA. These are the first two books, the first includes information related to Albert Einstein and the second to Charles Darwin. The third relates to Cleopatra, and I haven‘t read the newest book yet.

Karisimo I‘ve read other Stuart Gibbs books but not these (yet)! Thanks for sharing! 10mo
Daisey @Karisimo I actually have a book or two of the Spy School series (which I guess also fit this prompt) in my class library, but I‘ve never read them. As much as I like Charlie Thorne, I really should try them. 10mo

This was a wonderful book about found family, alongside adoption and grief. Willow is a unique and gifted twelve year old girl, and I loved her story.

TheBookHippie I love this book. It‘s part of the Montessori curriculum here in our public school. (edited) 10mo

My 7th graders read this with another teacher and told me it was a great book, so I borrowed it from her to read now that school‘s out. I‘m thoroughly enjoying it, even with the heartbreaking moments.

1. I love self checkout because I can bag my groceries the way I want. Before I would either ask them if I could bag my own groceries or rebag them after paying. I'm very particular about it, my family knows to just let me bag everything.
2. I make lists for everything.
3. I will quote tv shows/movies during conversations if something in the convo reminds me of a quote.

dabbe #1: My hubby does this! 🤩
#2: I do, too, but then I hardly ever do anything with them. Is that another quirk? 🤪
