This was a wonderful book about found family, alongside adoption and grief. Willow is a unique and gifted twelve year old girl, and I loved her story.

TheBookHippie I love this book. It‘s part of the Montessori curriculum here in our public school. (edited) 2w

My 7th graders read this with another teacher and told me it was a great book, so I borrowed it from her to read now that school‘s out. I‘m thoroughly enjoying it, even with the heartbreaking moments.

I read this book for a student, and it was an interesting story of personal determination and hard work. There‘s a lot of discussion of basketball, but Willkom was a walk-on player who never actually gets to the point of his playing in a game for Marquette because of his status after a transfer and later choices.

This short book is an interesting perspective on WWII and the Holocaust. The author collected stories from survivors, mostly children at the time, about their pets. As one would expect there are a few happy stories of the pets that survived while waiting for their people to come back home but many sad stories of pets that did not survive. All of them emphasize the bond of love between people and their pets.

tpixie An interesting angle of WWII 2y
tpixie Pets were a big thing with Hurricane Katrina- so it makes sense it was a big thing during WWII also. 2y
JazzFeathers I don't think l could read it... 2y

I read this for a student, and it was a light YA romance with little substance. It made me chuckle a few times, but it was also very predictable.

Reading a few pages on the way to this afternoon‘s quiz bowl matches. This book was recommended by one of my students a while ago and I‘ve promised to finally read it before the end of our season.

JELEIGH I have yet to read this one and it‘s been sitting on my shelf forever 😬😂 2y
persephone1408 Kaz Brekker is probably my favorite character of all time. This duology is definitely worth reading, I think. 2y
Slajaunie I love this one! ❤️💙 2y

Booksarelifeaddict I have this book also! Do you know if I have to read the shadow of bone series first? 2y
Daisey @JELEIGH @persephone1408 @Slajaunie I‘m really enjoying it so far!! @Booksarelifeaddict I don‘t believe so, at least, I have not read those first. 2y
persephone1408 @Booksarelifeaddict its a different story...in the same universe. So you don't actually have to read shadow and bone. But I would recommend that t 2y
persephone1408 @Booksarelifeaddict that you read shadow and bone and six of crows before you read the Nikolai Lantsov books (king of scars) because they start to mix. 2y

Sometimes I read books just to discuss with students or to write quizzes so they can get AR credit. That is the only reason I finished this YA horror novel. It includes a stereotypical teenage girl group with negative peer pressure, twisted religious views, minimal character development, and excessive violence. I really hope the student does not want to continue the series.

LibrarianRyan I felt the same way. I own the rest of the series but have no intentions of finishing it. I can not see what so many love about this books. 3y
Daisey @LibrarianRyan I really don‘t get it. Think I‘m going to recommend Anna Dressed in Blood and maybe some April Henry. If you‘ve got other great recommendations for this genre, I‘d be happy to pass some along as this is an often reluctant reader. (edited) 3y
LibrarianRyan @Daisey I was not super impressed with Anna Dressed in blood but it was better than Merciless. Try the #Murdertrending series. Also Clown in a Cornfield. I just started Taking of Jake Livingston and am loving it. These are all YA but if you need Mg let me know. I also have more suggestions but Jake is short and so is Clown. #MT has various forms do like chat rooms, chapter sections etc. I always have more but these are nice foe RR. 3y
Daisey @LibrarianRyan Thanks! I‘ll look to see if some of these are available as I make recommendations. 3y

I‘ve thoroughly enjoyed every Watt Key book I‘ve read. They often appeal to my rural middle school readers and they‘re usually page turners. This book does an amazing job of describing the setting and making the reader realize the danger involved. This one does include quite a bit of animal violence as it includes hunting and survival along the gulf coast during a hurricane.
