pickI love this book. It has few words and phrases, but the illustrations tell the story so well even without the words. The art is incredible and in-depth. A cute story about a cute dog overwhelmed by the noise and bustle of the city in summer. He and his owner visit the beach to cool (and calm) down.
I tend to keep most things emotional and rough close to the vest.
This last half of the year has been rough. In late June our dog Woody was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his leg. He had been limping and wasn‘t getting better. The vet told me with his age and arthritis he didn‘t recommend amputation or chemo.
We got 12 more weeks with him after diagnosis. Ultimately, we had to let him go. It‘s been a couple month and we miss him terribly.
Students can compare and contrast this book with a fiction book about dogs. Students can create a Venn diagram to sort their ideas.
pickWeek 13:Nonfiction. A great book for dog lovers and how they are truly a human best friend. Teaches students about different jobs dogs have and how they assist in our everyday lives. Published in 2017.
