This story reminds me a lot of the movie Hellboy. Magic, djinn, angels(?), otherworldly beings, the threat of total destruction of our world, doom, despair. It was interesting but just OK. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

(2003) A young magician works a spell far above his level of training to summon a demon for a plan of petty revenge. Things go downhill from there. For a book in which all the characters are dislikable except for the demon a little bit, it's surprisingly fun.

#WhereAreYouMonday

This Monday I find myself in an alternative historical, steampunk version of early 20th century Cairo, where magic and djinns are commonplace. A murder mystery with supernatural elements, this fantasy world that Clark has created is fantastic.

ChaoticMissAdventures This is on my shortlist TBR for April! 1w
Ruthiella @ChaoticMissAdventures I hope you like it! I read the two stories/novellas set in this series a couple of years ago now and was intrigued. 1w

That long after our deaths, men and women sitting around a fire would hear that once, long ago, before we were all just stories, we lived.
Ahead of us, in the garden, a fire flickered to life.
And the storyteller began.

Some of the magic from the previous books eluded me in this one.
It was still incredibly tense, distressing, and harrowing.
However, most of the twists I foresaw this time around. I wasn't as taken aback by the events as I was with the previous two books.
Still, I'm anxiously trying to make time to read the next book.
