#WickedWords #iceberg

My #DoubleSpin / #ReadOrDonate / #TBRtarot book gave me the #WickedWord I didn‘t find in April.

Pickpick

It's Nancy Drew so it's a pick, but more like a pick with caveats. It absolutely shows it's age in a cringey way. The writing and detecting are sub-par when compared to earlier books.

And hey, I can claim #doublespin victory!

(I'm pretty sure that most of my my readalong participation will be finished in the last week of the month.

The Girl in Red | Christina Henry

Pickpick

I enjoyed this book (on audio) which was my #DoubleSpin for the month.

I am a bit disappointed that some things weren‘t exactly “solved” but overall it was a good read.

During a deadly pandemic Red begins the journey to her Grandma‘s house. But there are wolves that want to take advantage of a girl alone in the woods.

My #doublespin this month was so much fun! It‘s rare I find an Agatha Christie I don‘t enjoy, but that also makes it rare for one of her‘s to be especially standout. I can‘t say exactly what it is that makes this one join the ranks of my favorite Christie‘s any more than I could have solved the mystery ahead of Miss Marple, but it‘s definitely something I‘ll keep pondering. @TheAromaofBooks

I really liked this although I can barely tell you why. It's just well written. And once it gets going it flows quite well.

My book club at work picked this off a short list of suggestions. It's almost like I planned this. And then the senior director of our business unit signed up. Yikes. I gave my library copy to my intern because there's extra time. Hopefully she won't lose it. 😂

The River We Remember: A Novel | William Kent Krueger

Now I totally get all the William Kent Kruger love that I've read on my bookish social media! This was a fantastic mystery with depth, atmosphere, and a cast of interesting characters. I grabbed this one off my tbr shelves when it came up as my May #Doublespin, and now I have another author's backlist to dive into! @TheAromaofBooks

KathyWheeler My favorite of his stand-alone books is This Tender Land, but I also liked Ordinary Grace. His Cork O‘Connor series has, I think, 20 books now; I just finished #18. I really enjoy that series. (edited) 3d
AmyG I just lobed this one. He has become a new favorite. This Tender Land is what got me hooked. 2d
