This book was a little darker than I'd expected it to be: every character revealed deep flaws over the course of the novel. Usually, I don't go for books that don't have a character I'm "rooting for," but I loved the way all these people were written. They have such heft to them-- all their actions feel true to who they seem to be. This one has been on my TBR since it came out, and I'm so glad I finally read it. It was worth the wait. #DAReadAThon

I can't believe I waited this long to read this book. This 96 page novella is packed with a punch. So much depth, nuance, and world-building in the book. I immediately fell in love with Binti, and I love that her story revolves around doing what she has to do to access the education she craves. This was such an enjoyable read, although the ending felt a bit rushed. I'm hoping since now there's going to be sequels we'll get to know more about some of the characters and their back stories. Also yay ace rep on the page! #DAReadathon #queerlit #queer52
