I greatly enjoyed this book. Some of this information was absolutely revolutionary to me. Some of it I already knew, but he took those a step or more - further than I dared take them previously - to their logical end. There is nothing shocking about this book, honestly.

GingerAntics If one has thought critically about all the stories one has been told as a child and compared them with the actions of the story tellers, this falls right in line with what you already know, but adds more to broaden that understanding. I can definitely see this as a conversation starter for the open minded, and would gladly read it again with a good group. 10mo

And yet, those with the greatest faith never realise they are NOT part of any group reasonably and logically referred to as “men and women of real conscience.”

This is, of course, assuming organized religion HAS a conscience, which we all know they do not.

Dr. Mengele was most certainly a man without a #conscience. #newyearreads

Suet624 Yes indeed. No question about that. 7y

#Conscience:
I apologize for the onslaught of China Dolls posts, but today‘s #Newyearreads prompt is a perfect fit for this book! The entire book rotates between the conscience of three women navigating the world in the 1930‘s-40‘s. I am really enjoying this read!

HotMessJess @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks it‘s so good! Very quick and fun, but I read so much slower these days because I journal and read at the same time! So many thoughts about things! 7y

One of my all time favorite reads: a twin's struggle with his #conscience in caring for his brother with schizophrenia while trying to keep his own life afloat. Loved the story within a story that helped him understand his family influences and, thus, himself. I'm planning a reread though I'm curious if my reading experience will be different now that I'm in the mental health field.

Mitch Read this a long time ago and every time I prune my shelves it survives the cut. Might pull it down and reread. 7y

Amy definitely didn‘t have a guilty #conscience !!! I didn‘t care for this book or movie, but she‘s the first character I thought of!!

amvs1111 Good call! 7y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @amvs1111 thanks!! ☺️😉 7y
GripLitGrl Amy was totally void of a conscience that's for sure! 7y
CaroPi I think the book was great because it created characters that we really dislike. No Amy no Nick are good persons. But I couldn't stop reading it 7y
