Vampire Hunter D Volume 2: Raiser of Gales | Hideyuki Kikuchi, Yoshitaka Amano, Kevin Leahy

#ReadJanuary #BooksByAsianAuthors 🦇 I've been enjoying the Vampire Hunter D series, after first seeing the anime movie. The awesomely cool illustrations, are by the Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano. The D stories of Hideyuki Kikuchi mix creature horror and steampunk sci-fi to the epic best!

My #tbr #booksbyasianauthors - I have some more squirreled away on my shelves; these were immediately handy (because I'm reading them relatively soon) 😄 #readjanuary

Soubhiville I'm tagging this so I can check out the blurb! 8y
Yellowpigeon I am a Cat was so interesting. By far the best book about the Meiji era from the perspective of a cat. 😂 8y

When you have a Chinese minor, love Murakami and are general obsessed with Asia, your #booksbyasianauthors shelf is a bit much. While composing this shot, my husband told me (he grew up in China and has a deeper understanding of these books) that the author of Outlaws of the Marsh was the teacher to the author of Romance of the a Three Kingdoms.

Yellowpigeon Continued. The author of Outlaws was unable to finish before his death. So Three Kingdoms author finished it. The emperor at the time thought the books were rebellious and blocked their publication. Probably due to the fact they were commanding the rebellions against the dynasty. 😁 steps off history nerd soap box 8y

Some #BooksByAsianAuthors that are very high on my #TBR list 📚

#readJanuary

Weaponxgirl Great selection! Everything I never told you was amazing one of my new favourites and a tale for the time being is really good too. I remember reading it on the bus and then getting to a really intense bit as I hit my stop and my heart was racing whilst running errands as I just wanted to get back to it so much. 8y
I-read-and-eat These all look great! I just got The Vegetarian at the library today. 8y
vivastory @I-read-and-eat you're in for a treat 8y
Kalalalatja @Weaponxgirl oh I know that feeling! I have been eying it for so long, but for some reason I haven't bought it yet. 8y
Kalalalatja @I-read-and-eat I look forward to see what you think about it! 👍 8y

Here are my #readjanuary picks for #booksbyasianauthors. I still have to read the Liu book from her fantastic Hunter Kiss urban fantasy series, and the latest installment of Vinland Saga. Sorcerer to the Crown was excellent and unexpected and I highly recommend it.

EllieDottie Sorcerer to the Crown has been I my tbr for a while now! I really need to pick it up! 8y
AmandaL @EllieDottie You should! You may find the beginning a little slow, but the more you read, the more the story gets better and better. 8y

An Equal Music | Vikram Seth
post image

So there's Murakami that comes to mind for #booksbyasianauthors - but for me Vikram Seth absolutely stand out, I've read everything by him, fiction, non-fiction & his incredible poetry.

An Equal Music is one of my all-time-favs. It brings together my fascination with classical music, my love of London and most of all - a well written deeply moving love story ❤️🎶

btw - does anyone recognize the bookmark?? Denver's finest 💎

#readjanuary

Godmotherx5 I've only read A Suitable Boy. I think it took me a full year to read. 8y

I really like Japanese and Indian literature and I am looking forward to continue exploring books by authors from other Asian countries. Happy Year of the Rooster!

shuva #TheThreeKingdoms sounds like the Indian epic #Mahabharata. It's not on the list but it's really worth reading. And #thebhagwatgita Is a part of the Mahabharata. I've forgotten how many times I've read it 😊😊 8y
