Choosing to be more intentional with my daily reading, tonight I took out my French edition of Hans Christian Andersen stories. Printed in Italy🇮🇹 in 1970, this mint condition book is one of several in a collection I inherited when my maternal grandmother passed in 2008.

This was a #blameitonlitsy library book. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Fun, sexy, and believable character growth. The bad thing about my kindle is that with the lights off I end up staying up way too late 😂

Tamra @Lcsmcat my translation is by Donald Frame. The Complete Essays of Montaigne. I haven‘t read any others, but I‘d be interested. 2w

Lcsmcat @Tamra My Kindle version is Cotten/Florin/Hazlitt. (It was cheap 😀) but I may invest in a paper copy a with a different translation. As tempting as it is to read it in French, I‘m not sure I‘m up to the archaic language! 2w

This is a historical crime novel based on an actual event…and it‘s so well written and intriguing!
Life isn‘t easy for Greek grandma Zina. Especially now that she‘s been accused of a crime in London where she does not speak the language. Enter Eva into Zina‘s life. It‘s the 1950s and translating for the accused was an afterthought. That age-old mother in law vs daughter in law relationship

squirrelbrain It was such a great book wasn‘t it @TheKidUpstairs ? Glad you liked it too, Chelsea. I have an ARC of her new one - due out on 8th May in the UK. I want to get to it soon, but I have so many other ARCs that I‘m trying to read in pub order.

Dare to Disappoint: Growing Up in Turkey | Ozge Samanci

Every so often I have a graphic novel fixation, and I‘m back on it. Bonus points if it is nonfiction or a memoir and this one is! The author grew up in Turkey and takes the reader along from the time she‘s a child, too young to be in school—though she yearns to join her sister there—through college and young adulthood. Her changes are depicted right alongside changes to her country and therefore family. A #blameitonlitsy read thanks to @JamieArc

Dissolution: A Shardlake Novel | C. J. Sansom

Completed this book for #BookedinTime (Tudor England). I enjoyed the writing style and the story. Although I‘m not sure if I‘m invested enough in the character of Shardlake to continue on with the series. Maybe I‘m a bit curious to see how he fares now that his rose-colored glasses about Cromwell and the Reformation have been removed.

dabbe Like everyone said the books only get better. Shardlake's character grows in such complexity, and Henry VIII actually comes into the books as well as other royals. 🩶🖤🩶 3w
