I‘ve had this on my Litsy TBR for awhile, finally got around to the audiobook, narrated by author. Think I mainly wanted to read it because of the travel, & I definitely enjoyed hearing about different cultures, traditions, & lifestyles. A lot of the people interviewed by the author were interesting. I really liked the grandmother in Moldova. Amusing at times. The parts about happiness were good but not as interesting to me. 3.75⭐️

“for some reason…” Huh, wonder why they had that idea?

So, today I learned that
a. Mt. Everest was named for, but not by, George Everest.
b. George Everest was actually a proponent of learning the local name of mountains he surveyed, rather than coming up with new English names.
and c. He hated it when people pronounced his name Ever-est, rather than Eve-rest.

This #chunkstermini took me all month to read, but it was worth it. Fatland visited such interesting places, and her description of Everest base camp is one of the best I‘ve ever read. I just wish she had tied her journey together or made some conclusions at the end because after a while it kind of seemed like Himalayan resident speed dating. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Crazeedi Sounds like an interesting book! 11mo

Feeling refreshed and ready to take on the week after #HyggeHour

I‘m still working on the tagged chunkster at night, and I‘m determined to finish this month. Sunday nights have helped a lot with that goal.

Tomorrow is my early day at work so it‘s off to bed. Check out my new to me moon lamps I turn on at bedtime. Three of them came my way from various directions around Christmas, and I just love them.

TheBookHippie Oh I love them!!! 11mo

Power‘s out. Thankfully I have all my candles out for #MidwinterSolace

Aims42 Eek! Stay safe!! Looks nice and cozy right now though 🥰☺️ 12mo
Suet624 I feel like everyone across the US is losing power tonight. Vermont is about to get hit hard. 12mo
IndoorDame Stay safe and warm! 12mo

Melismatic Stay safe! Wind is whistling here in Brooklyn too! 12mo
Tamra Reminds me to stock up on candles and batteries! Somehow the kids take the flashlights and they disappear for good. 12mo
tpixie My sister‘s electricity is out in KC also. 12mo
ElizaMarie Ooo you look really prepared! Stay safe —- reminds me I should probably charge my phone 12mo
Chelsea.Poole At least you‘re prepared! It does look cozy 🕯️ 12mo
marleed I woke to a pile of snow in my neck of the woods in Kansas City. Problem was how wet and heavy it is - very difficult to clear my driveway and sidewalks. But I do have power!💡 12mo
mcctrish Thank goodness for candles and reading lights. I hope your power is off only as long as you want your cozy vibe and no longer 🙏🏻🤞🏻 12mo
AnnCrystal Stay cozy and warm. Be safe 💕🙏. 12mo
Ruthiella Great that you are prepared! But, for everyone‘s sake, I hope the power comes back soon. 🤞 (edited) 12mo
Roary47 I‘m glad you were ready. Even though I‘m sure the power out was not what you were ready for. I hope you are able to stay warm and the power comes on soon. 💛 12mo
Bookwormjillk @Aims42 @Suet624 @IndoorDame @Melismatic @Tamra @tpixie @ElizaMarie @Chelsea.Poole @marleed @AnnCrystal @Ruthiella @Roary47 Thanks! Luckily power came back overnight so it was more of a fun adventure than a dangerous outage. I‘m feeling grateful for a new roof, plenty of blankets and candles, and the people who‘s job it is to go outside in the middle of a storm and fix these things. 11mo
ElizaMarie @Bookwormjillk I lucked out and didn't have any power issues. One of my buddies had a leak in their roof and had sustained damage (which sucks), but we were good. Today has been fine (sunny) but I think we have another winter storm on the horizon -- (I am in Southern Vermont)

Bookwormjillk @ElizaMarie yes we‘re supposed to get another one on Friday (in Virginia) and then a snow storm next week. Seems like it will be a rough winter! 11mo
tpixie @Bookwormjillk oh! I‘m so thankful you got your power back relatively quickly!! And it‘s awesome that You were prepared with your candles. 💙💙💙 (edited) 11mo
