so-so3⭐️maybe. This book was way too long and drawn out. It felt like it was never going to end. It didn't really get exciting til the last 20 pages. It's a retelling of 1001 Arabian Nights. I thought a while before I wrote my long review (on Goodreads) and determined I did not like the message of this book. It has a companion novel (not a sequel) that I will probably read since I own it. #beatthebacklist #basilisk #LitsyAtoZ

The history in this, the political intrigue that surrounded the beginning of the Tokugawa Era, is so beautifully represented in this book. Badass ninjas and forbidden love are a bonus. 👌🏾 I'm so happy I get to read this for a class.
