I believe the terminology for the way I organize mine is "willy nilly", how about you guys?

LiteraryinPA Mine is separated fiction and non-fiction. Then the fiction is alphabetical by author. I like knowing where to look for things, and I sort of like that read is mixed in with TBR because then I don't feel stressed about how many books I haven't gotten to read yet. 7y

MicheleinPhilly Mine is only separated fiction from non and read from unread. After that it's "If I fits, I sits." 7y

CocoReads Mine can only be classified as "American chaos". I have no system since I also have not enough space. 7y

BookNAround Alphabetical by author within format (hard cover, trade paper, mass market) and genre are separated out entirely from the others. I might be a little obsessive. 7y

Prairiegirl_reading Mine WERE organized alphabetically by author but then I ran out of room and now they are piled on the floor in the order they are being purchased! I'm working on clearing out that room to get some more bookshelves and then I haven't decided how things will go from there! 7y

emilyesears I organize by theme--all classics together, all journalism books together, all library science books together, etc. It's the librarian in me. 7y

BarbaraTheBibliophage Fiction is separate and alphabetical. Nonfiction is sort of separated by category, but I have plans to #audioorganize and improve that someday. Mostly it's a hot mess right now. 7y

ThatBookishGal I'm a mix of all of those plus a dash of genre thrown in there! It all just depends on the shelf 7y

kiminreverse i seperate fiction from non. The nons are roughly by theme. The fictions are grouped by author but otherwise chaos. It doesnt work well for me though. The current setup happened when I started to reorganize, got overwhelmed, and lost interest. 7y

brittanyreads I usually shelve things for aesthetic purposes. I find great beauty in a bookcase, as I'm sure we all do 🙃 7y
