I‘ve only been meaning to do this for 13 years now - since my son came home from Ethiopia. I love dark injera (100% teff), but we‘ve always purchased it from shops because it‘s been more convenient. But not THAT convenient because the shops are an hour away so I really should learn to make it so that we can eat Ethiopian whenever we wish. 😋 Wish me luck, it‘s a 7 day ferment and the griddle execution requires practice. 🤞🏾🤞🏾

mcipher I just went down such a rabbit hole with this post! I‘ve never had Ethiopian food but I‘m planning to try making slightly non-authentic injera and doro wat this week because both sound delicious! 4y

Tamra @mcipher yay! You can sub a flat bread or rice, but it isn‘t quite the same delicious experience. I recommend purchasing both Berbere and the spiced butter if you have access to Ethiopian shops. Otherwise you can purchase Berbere online and is excellent to also use for grilling veggies and chicken. 4y
Texreader I found an “easy” recipe for it on Pinterest (and posted it there), but when it said I needed sourdough starter I knew that it wasn‘t going to happen. Good luck!! @Butterfinger 4y

Tamra @Butterfinger if I can remember to I will! I start another grad class next week so between that, work, and family my life isn‘t my own. My kids were babies when they came to us so they don‘t have any memories of their own. 4y

Tamra @Texreader my kids were babies when they left. Son 3 months and daughter 16 mo so they don‘t have any memories of their experiences. 4y

Butterfinger What a wonderful story!!! Our local newsman adopted a little boy from Ethiopia. So we were able to go through the journey through his eyes. Thanks for sharing. 4y
