I was going to read The Grapes of Wrath for this month‘s #authoramonth but needed to get that from the library and I just can‘t seem to get there. So this and East of Eden are on my shelf already, and this one‘s *much* slimmer! 🤣

And I can also count it for #pop23 #abookyoureadmorethan10yearsago and #52books23 #asecondhandbook.

I didn‘t recall this book at all so it was lovely to have a re-read.

BarbaraBB Your two choices are my favorite Steinbeck‘s (and Of Mice and Men). To be honest I didn‘t like Grapes of Wrath much 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2y

I had surgery a week and a half ago & have been pretty much bed-bound since then. I haven‘t had any focus to be able to read or anything else. 🥺 I‘ve mostly just been watching game shows. But today was the big OKC members only presale for our annual book sale, and my husband was kind enough to take me. I didn‘t want to miss it! Most of these were $1 or $2. My favorite in the series so far…I think the writing is brilliant, and the study of human emotions is exquisite. Brunetti reinvestigates a kidnapping when a body that could be the victim is found. But, as always, things are not as they seem, so Brunetti has to parse out the truths from the lies. An excellent addition to the series. #192025 #1998
