The most books and Pages read in any year, Litsy has been a big part of this. Slow start to the year but it soon picked up pace.

Melissa_J Excellent work, Andrew! I still don‘t know how people on here read so much! I mean I spend most of my non-working time reading and I still can‘t seem to read more than 80 books per year. You mega readers are going to have to share your secrets 😂 6y

Andrew65 @Melissa_J Most important thing is no tv (at all), and it helps that the children are grown and flown the nest. I also listen to audiobooks any time too physically tired to read. Prior to Shelfari days I used to read one or two books a month and has just built Year on year but think I spent too much time reading last year! May need to address this in 2019. It does also help that my wife reads as much if not more than me but at a slower speed. (edited) 6y
Andrew65 @Melissa_J Some of last year‘s reading (possibly a lot) was escapism. Last year was a very tough year all round but hopefully come out the other side now. 6y
Melissa_J I don‘t watch TV already LOL! My reading did drop after I changed jobs a few years back and no longer had to commute via bus to work (it‘s great for my well-being, but bad for my reading stats 😂). I‘m going to try to limit my phone screen time and see if that helps. Is your wife on any of these sites? 6y

Andrew65 @Melissa_J No she doesn‘t get involved with the websites. I think phones can take a lot of our time. I only really used them for Litsy, Librarything (very little time these days), brief (very) on Goodreads and odd bit of news surfing. 6y

Crazeedi @Andrew65 congratulations on a fantastic year! You are an inspiration to all of us! I don't watch tv, but I haven't picked up the habit of audiobooks while I work around the house. I started yesterday to do this, I must make it a habit. So i might reach your lofty heights someday! (Probably not) 😉 anyway keep giving us all your great suggestions and inspiration ! Andrew65 @Crazeedi Thanks, at least I‘m out the other side and still smiling. Friends like you on Litsy have helped me through. Such low ebbs during the year but been better over the past two - three months and more bounceability to issues. You will find audiobooks help considerably, some work better than others, I like historical fiction, romance, sagas, literary fiction , fantasy and bigger books as audiobooks. Some mysteries work but some don‘t for me. (edited) 6y

Andrew65 @Crazeedi You also find some books just do not work in this format. Some of my favourites in this format include 11.22.63 - Stephen King, Outlander Books - Gabaldon, The Help - Kathryn Stockett, The Hunger Games, Night Circus, The Light Between Oceans. 6y

EadieB @Andrew65 It definitely bothers him that I read so much. He tries constantly to call me away from my books. He is reading but can only read no more than 1 hour. 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB That‘s where I‘m at an advantage, my wife is as happy reading as me. She reads slower than me but read over 200 books last year. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 Definitely going to be challenging to read as much as I‘m used to. Hopefully, he will get used to me reading but sometimes I sense anger. 6y
