I absolutely loved this book. The publisher (Haymarket Books) always has the most radical writings we need. Themes: feminist rage, pain, racism, domestic violence, immigration, queer love and relationships, death, and more. Her words are 🔥🔥🔥!

Cathythoughts @BarbaraBB Yes really enjoyed the first half…. a little unsure about part two 😬 I hate when this happens. Maybe it will be ok 🤞🏻 1mo

The first half of Changeling is definitely spooky – at times, downright scary. It was silly of me to read it in the middle of the night, alone at home. I ended up having to finish it all in one sitting before I could confidently go to bed, otherwise I would‘ve been fretting over it and jumping up at every noise until dawn. This was much more violent than the usual cozy mysteries we read for our work book club, but it wasn‘t bad. It‘s frigid here this weekend so good timing for reading about Greenland.

For anyone lost in The Twighlight Zone betwixtmas, today is THURSDAY😅🫣

Isn't that right? @TheBookHippie @Bookwormjillk 🤣

Bookwormjillk Don‘t ask me 🤣 3mo
AlaMich It is weird, especially since I work in a school and we get two weeks off for winter break. So all the days really blend together. 😵‍💫 3mo
TheEllieMo Back at work for me today, but it‘s felt very Mondayish. I‘ve been in a weird dimension where I have simultaneously known it‘s Thursday but at the same time kept thinking it was Monday. 3mo

Mx. Justin Vivian Bond is one of the recipients of the 2024 MacArthur Fellowship (i.e. Genius Grant). I first became aware of Bond from the movie Shortbus. The song is slightly NSFW (suggestive lyrics). The movie is extremely NSFW, but beautiful.

The Sealwoman's Gift | Sally Magnusson

Pickpick

A slow burn that is worth persevering with because it is both heartbreaking and beautiful. It is based on real events - a part of history that I knew nothing about- the kidnap of over 400 people from Iceland by barbery pirates. The FMC was a real woman, with a real story that has been fictionalised, but there are so many historical facts, that this is a powerful story ❣️
